ICM 1/48 DB26 Invader (Drone Carrier)
A recently completed ICM 1/48 DB26 Invader built out of the box. I replaced the kits BQM-34A (Q-2C) Firebee with a KDA-1 (Q2A) as I'm given to understand that the aircraft never flew with a mixed 'load' (?) Finished with Tamiya XF's and weathered with pastels..
Nice to see a completed ICM kit, Kevin, especially photographed in its natural environment.
Many thanks George! this was my first ICM kit and I thoroughly enjoyed the build and I can highly recommend it.
Superb result, Kevin!
The ICM kit looks good and you made the most of it!
Many thanks my friend!
Great looking Invader, nicely done.
Thanks very much Robert!
Well done, Kevin!
Many thanks Gary, much appreciated!
Very nice build, Kevin.
Also like the “concrete” display platform. How was it made?
Thanks very much Alfred! The base was just some sheet timber I found in my garage. I 'buttered' the surface with filler paste and, when dried, I scribed the sections into the filler with a large nail. I pre-shaded the panel lines and over sprayed that with a concrete colour paint. Once that was dry I applied all the dirt and spills marks using old used brush cleaning fluid. The base is extremely fragile because of the thin coating of filler and I usually have to repair it when I've picked it up! Hope that answers your question?
A great build of this Invader, Kevin @kevinrowbotham
The idea to build it as a drone carrier makes it look even more special.
This entire build as well as the concrete base looks excellent.
Nicely done Invader. I need to try the ICM Invaders, I've done several of the Revell variety.
Thanks Chas! This was my first ICM kit and Invader and I can thoroughly recommend them.
Excellent invader model!
Thanks very much Dan, much appreciated!
Nicely done! Impressive build and photos. Lots of eye candy going on with the drones, yellow trim, and cool truck to boot!
Thanks so much David, much appreciated!
