Tempest Mk.II

March 4, 2023 · in Aviation · · 29 · 0.8K

Here's some photos to share of a build I completed in April 2022. Mk.II early version kit # 82124 by . Looks like it came off the showroom floor. Sorry no exhaust burns no weathering. Very well detailed model. I believe I placed about 140 decals. The photo etched parts are awesomely detailed as well. Lots of patience to do this one.

  1. Nothing wrong with a clean looking Tempest, Robert, nice work on this.

  2. After those airplanes were repainted, they didn't get that much operation until they went out of service, so this looks right all the way through its career in this scheme.

    Nice work on the model.

  3. An excellent build, Robert!

  4. Very nice Tempest, Robert @bsc4849
An impressive decal amount, might even exceed the number of plastic parts.

  5. Not often seen but very nice indeed. Been a favourite since Matchbox´ extra part making it possible to make an Indian Mk II. Hmm I should get one me think.

  6. Well done, Robert. Definitely nothing wrong with a clean build. Sometimes they look too nice to dirty up...and yours is that! Again...nice job.

  7. What a Beast and very clean one at that. Some strong work Robert. A smart and tight build. The decals can be maddening but, the return for your efforts pay off. I believe there are several restorations of the real aircraft in the works and to see your efforts turns up the dial in wanting to build a kit and learn more about the a/c.

    Two thumbs up.

Had to smash the like button. No other choice.

  8. Thanks, can’t wait to see those real ones in the air!

  9. Fantastic build! Way to persevere on all those decals!

  10. Well done Bob, I like the clean look, as I always note they all were new at one time in their life.

  11. That's what they call a nice clean build. They were all pretty at one time when they left the factory.

  12. Great build Robert, the aluminum paint is "spot on" to my eyes since many Tempest were painted aluminum after the war. This is probably my favorite super prop fighter from WWII. Back in 1987 I saw a real Tempest II in Bradley Connecticut not in flying or display condition. It was painted aluminum with markings from the Indian Air Force. From doing some research a while ago this aircraft was bought and moved to Texas, Ezell Aviation since the 90's. Original plans to restore it but never completed.

Nice to see a Tempest II fully restored and soon to fly in Canada by KF Aerospace.

Again, great job on your build.

  13. Excellent build Robert. Love the clean looks 😊

  14. Gorgeous build and a gorgeous aircraft. I just finished mine last week, marked the same. You did excellent work on the decals as well!

  15. Very nice - that is a great scheme. Well done!

  16. Beautiful airplane Robert! 👍 Very nice work sir @bsc4849! 😁
