Canadian Falcon? A kids eye view.
My 7 year old nephew, Noah had some ‘great ideas' of how a Canadian F-16B would look. On his first visit, we quickly assembled the Hasegawa kit D14 - he clipped out the parts and he held the parts in place while I dabbed the CA glue, then he went over the joints with Tamiya thinned cement under my supervision. His next visit, we shared some airbrushing actions - okay , who am I trying to kid - I painted the thing, but Noah was supervising the colours and paint action. We also went through the spare parts box and he selected old AA-6 Acrid missiles from a very old Hasegawa MiG-25 that broke apart many years ago. During his 3rd visit, looking through the spare decal box resulted in him choosing the low-vis CF-18 decals. We shared decal cut out duties, then he soaked the decals and applied MicroSet and Sol while I made sure they were squarely placed. He also supervised the PowerPoint process of making the base stand.
Result: A one of a kind F-16B Plus and one excited kid.
He took it home today, promising he won't play with it - well, he kinda promised he wouldn't play with it. I expect his next visit will include the return of the plane with some repair work required.
If you look closely at the first photo, you can see that his bangs are cut short - he cut them himself after complaining they were too long. 😯
Fantastic, George, getting your nephew into the hobby at just the right age.
Thanks George (@chinesegeorge), you're correct - he now has his eyes set on a YF-22 kit I have, that will be more of a 'hands off' from my end and we'll see how he does.
Absolutely amazing, George @georgeswork
So nice to be able to do this with your nephew. He must be very pleased with his Falcon.
Thanks John (@johnb),he lives about 60km away so the builds need to be quick and easy.
Of course it is a Canadian Falcon, beautifully made, George!
Thanks Spiros (@fiveten).
In his 'expert' opinion, Noah figures Canada should have had the F-16. 😉
This is awesome and another great looking F-16! Your nephew is going to love this.
Thank you Bob (@v1pro), he kept flying it around the room - reminds me of myself as a kid after completing any kit.
Nicely done Noah, you to George
Double thumbs up from Noah.
Thanks Robert (@roofrat)
What a great joint project! Looks fantastic.
Thanks Greg (@gkittinger), the next project is already getting some preassembly paint.
I thought it was be a YF-22 Raptor, but it looks like it'll an old Monogram/Mattel F-14 Tomcat.
