Tamiya 1/48 Lancaster B I/III
Two Lancaster models are presented here that differ in the engine layout and the H2S radar.
Tamiya's venerable Lancaster was criticized for the poor fit of parts, especially the engine nacelles to the wings and (wrongly) for the raised panel lines. The latter were characteristic of the molding pattern for model aircraft at the time the model was first issued (1973.) Later editions retained the raised panel that are more representative of the real aircraft and improved the fit of parts.
Ever since I completed the second model I have not found a third one for a reasonable price, meaning it was a modelling delight experience with the two.
Beautiful examples of an iconic aircraft, Rafi, thank you for sharing.
Thank you George
Excellent results, Rafi and I totally agree on the "raised panel lines" subject. Still the kit keeps a relatively high price tag (though lower than around two decades ago). Who knows, maybe Tamiya will pleasantly surprise us in the future and re-release it at a lower price, as they did with some other re-releases.
Thank you Spiros.
Unfortunately prices only go up, but I am happy with what I have.
Those are two good-looking Lancs! Well done.
Thank you Greg!
Great Lancs, Rafi! Your attention to weathering paid off.
Thank you John
A fine looking pair of Lancs - Well done!
Thank you Chas!
Lovely. I love the light fading on the wings. Sharp cockpit, too!
Thank you Brian!
Both are excellent build Lancasters, Rafi @blackmopane
Starting a Revell one at this moment and will definitely use yours as an example.
Thank you John.
I built Revell. You will enjoy it.
Two bee oo tiful babes Mister. Very striking finishes.
Thank you Bill
Those are a very nice pair. Excellent work overall on what is a difficult assembly, and very nice painting and weathering. The Tamiya Lancaster is so expensive still that the new H-K (which gets rid of all the fit problems the Tamiya has) is competitive pricewise and often cheaper.
Thank you Tom.
Unfortunately, in my search for a new model Tamiya has been consistently and significantly cheaper.
Great work @blackmopane you've built a really fine example of a important aircraft. Weather looks just right and your paintwork is superb.
Thank you David!
