Grumann TBF-1c Avenger 1/72 Hasegawa. Lt. (JG) George Bush Plane, USS San Jacinto.

This article is part of a series:
  1. F6F-3 Hellcat 1:72 Cyber Hobby CV-51 USS San Jacinto.
  2. Grumann TBF-1c Avenger 1/72 Hasegawa. Lt. (JG) George Bush Plane, USS San Jacinto.

Making a model of the plane of the 41st President of the United States has been my dream for a long time. Already in primary school, I built a simple Frog TBF Avenger model. But now it's time for a more professional construction. The choice fell on the TBF-1c Hasegawa model from 1996. The model is very decent, although it does not have many parts. everything fits very well. I bought the model on Ebay without decals, which didn't matter because I was planning to build a plane marked X 2 from the USS San Jacinto aircraft carrier anyway. I used Print-Scale decals for this. Contrary to the suggestions from the decal set, future president George Bush flew a mission on a different machine over Chichijima island on September 2, 1944. the plane marked X 2 and named Barbara III was the president's third plane. I made the model as an OOB with the addition of a crew members - figures from the Legend brand and one from Airfix and own made antennas under wings. The only problem during construction was that the gunner's turret had to be glued in for convenience when closing the hull. then, especially after covering it with masks, it is very difficult to put it in place. the model is painted with Mr Color paints as standard, on the hull without the use of masks, by hand. I also used brown Modelers World wash. Despite the passage of time, the model is still of good quality and the end result is pleasing to the eye.

Please see the slide show showing the construction of the model:

I also invite you to check out the gallery. Like last time, I used the Costal Kits brand stand. I am still planning to make a common base, but my supplier of laser cutting decks is a bit late, but I will definitely post the effect of my work here after it is done. Very plesurable was painting of Legends Brand Figures. Very good kits!

The TBF Avenger from the aircraft carrier USS San Jacinto was the second part of the CV-51 Group project. Thank you to everyone who supported this project and contributed to the construction. Lieutenant Lis will return with another surprising project soon.
