For a change something not meant to destroy or kill.

This is 's 1/25 1964 . I wasn't sure why I wanted to build this, we never owned one growing up or after, and yet when Round 2 announced that it was reissuing it, I was weirdly drawn to it. Then the burnt-out brain cells were reactivating, I had saved brochures from the 1965 world's fair about an endurance run the car was involved in. That still wasn't it, and then the revelation, a girl that had known in 8th grade family owned one. Thats all there is.

  1. A wise decision to build it in the end, Robert @roofrat
You created a beautiful Comet and this color suites it very well.

  2. A fantastic result, Robert! Great that you decided to build it!

  3. Robert, thats a beautiful Comet. Great job. I've always liked then when they were built up as A/FX drag cars. Those Comets were really cool cars.

  4. Never too many car models. Whenever I need a reset from the planes & armor and good muscle car fits the build. Thanks for sharing

  5. Outstanding Robert. Though familiar with the name, I don't recall anyone owning one in my home town

  6. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
    Nice looking car model, Robert.
To tell you the truth, that color seems to be somewhat like a PETTY BLUE.
I see a classic NASCAR car in this.

  7. That is beautiful work, Robert @roofrat! 👍 Man, that car looks great! 🤩

A friend in high school had a blue four door version; he could rev up the engine in neutral and the fan belt would squeal like he was burning rubber! Great, dumb high school fun for the late '60s. 😁

  8. That’s a beautiful model of a beautiful car, Robert, and a sound enough reason to build it. Unfortunately I went to boys only schools……………

  9. NiceComet, Rob. My family always had GM cars back in the day but like you, I’m drawn to some of these ‘60s Fords.

Nice work here ! Ironically, my grandmother bought one of these when they were brand new. I can remember her and my older half sister driving down to see us from Pennsylvania one winter. Her car had a 289 V8 in it. Later she traded it in for a 69 Ford F-150 Ranger. My sister ended up getting a beautiful convertible 69 Camaro SS /396 with a 4 speed. It was a bright blue with a white top. Man you had me going down memory lane for a bit... 🙂

Me, I wanted the Mopar muscle cars. Give me a Challenger or 'Cuda any day... I have had my share of them too. Road Runners, Chargers, Satellite Sebrings, GTX's Duster, Dart, Demon... I hate to think about these cars and what happened to them today. I mean we BEAT the snot out of them !

We all have one (or two) that got away... 😉 One day I'll write down her name.

The two cars that got away for me was:

1 was a 1971 Challenger R/T. It was Top Banana Yellow, had a sunroof, a Shaker hood, and a 426 Hemi with 727 transmission with console... dumb... dumb dumb... me banging my head on the wall.

I still have the instrument cluster and rally dash from it. The rally dash gauges will eventually be going into my 70 Lime Green Challenger.

    2. a 69 Yenko Camaro... 427 car with a 4 speed. It was also Blue like my sister's convertible was. It had a 4.11 posi traction 12 bolt rear end in it. It only had 6,000 miles on it at the time I "almost" bought it. It was my old Platoon Sergeant's car. He bought it brand new and ended up doing three tours in Vietnam... so he stored it while he was in country.

Then he drove it while home on leave... but only for a little while. He was sent to Germany next, where he met a girl, married her, and kept re-enlisting for Germany so he could stay near her family. He offered it to me for a dollar a mile.

I would have had to re-enlist myself... in order to pay for the car. It was all original and still had the plastic bubble wrap on the back seat.

    • One that really got away, your platoon sergeants story sounds like an older cousin of mine, while stationed in Italy he married an Italian girl, stayed in Italy for almost his whole career, when he was about to retire that's when came back. One car that got away from me, was 67 Pontiac Lemans that my dad owned, it had the 6 cyl overhead cam motor, the engine crapped out, so got rid of it, I would have put some kind of V8 in it but living in an apartment he couldn't store it.

  11. Great job on the Comet, Robert (@roofrat).

  12. Very nice, Robert. Well done!
Sometimes you just gotta change it up and and get the mojo/brain cells rejuvenated. Makes one feel better...@roofrat
