F-16C Fighting Falcon, Dragon 1/144 – 'F-16 at 50' GB
Initiated a little while ago to populate a mini-display cabinet, this F-16C build was restarted thanks to the 'F-16 at 50' Group build. Thanks to Erik Gjørup (@airbum) for the motivation.
This F-16C is half of the Dragon 'Air Superiority' Kit #4004. The only parts added were the front nose sensor bulges, the front side pitot tube and the front nose pitot tube, as well as the mini nav lights on the side of the air intake. All from scrape plastic.
It's a nice little kit with nice detail and pretty good decals, although they were a little thick which reminded me of the basic Hasegawa decals.
Paints were all Tamiya - XF19, XF-66, XF-24 and XF-53 for the radome. Final coating is MicroScale Satin clear coat.
I gave some Panel Liner a try and I think the accenting turned out ok.
My bifocals and 4X eye piece worked overtime with this little guy, but it actually was a very enjoyable quick build, being my first 1/144th scale build.
The kit F-16C is from the USAFE 512TFS ‘DRAGONS', based at the Ramstein Airbase.
The base pad is a 3" round wooden base with images pulled from the internet and printed via MS PowerPoint.
Thanks to the Gents who followed the GB.
Nicely done, George!
Thank you Gary (@gwskat)
Handsome little dude! Like it.
Thank you Greg (@gkittinger)
Problem is now I have another Scale category to add to my long list un unbuilt kits, but that's a good problem to have.
Superb result on this Falcon, George @georgeswork
Hard to believe this is just a 1/144 scale build.
Thank you John (@johnb), thank goodness there is no 1/288 scale - I'd pull out all the hair I have left.
Excellent job on this little fellow, George!
Well done!
Thank you Spiros (@fiveten)
She may be little but it was just as much fun as a bigger scale.
Both the plane and the display base look very nice! @georgeswork
Thank you John (@jdtruby), i think all my 1/144 will have a base as they are just too small to be on heir own.
Great job! Beautiful work. If it wasn't for the change in the second pitcher, you'd never know it as a 1/144th scale model.
Thank you Clint (@curtisshawk), the change was close to what the single plane cost when I found it on consignment sale. 😉
Nice work, George (@georgeswork), especially on a model that is so small. It was a pleasure following along on your build.
Thank you George (@gblair)
This little guy was pretty quick once things started rolling.
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Small as it is, it packs and delivers a very strong visual punch, nice modeling George!
Thank you DE4EVER (@de4ever)
I like the result better than I thought I would, I'm finding 1/144th scale is a little addictive.
