Tamiya 1/12 Lotus Caterham Super Seven BRD
I have long loved Lotus automobiles. About 20 years ago I bought this kit in the Cycle Fender version. I truly enjoyed building it. Things got bad for me and I put the Ebay thinking I would make my money back at least. It didn't happen and I lost big time on it.
About and half ago I found the Caterham Super Seven BRD so i it up and here is the result.
Painted Tamiya British Green. (Of course) I enjoyed the engine and air cleaners the most but the suspension was equally detailed and enjoyable. Everything fit like a glove and was a pleasure to build
Enjoy
Now that’s super cool! Well done.
@j-healy Thanks John!
What a fabulous result, Cricket, glad to see you got the steering wheel on the right side.
@chinesegeorge The right side or the correct side 🙂
Ha ha, both, @bikequeen.
Really nice work on this. Without the photos that included your hand holding the model, I could have been convinced it was actually real.
@tcinla Thank you Tom. I really like doing that tiny engine
Cricket, your work is meticulous and a joy to behold. @bikequeen
@jdtruby Thank you John, in true Tamiya fashion everything went together very smoothly
Fantastic job, Cricket!
Well done!
@fiveten Thanks Spiros )
A really cool looking Caterham, Cricket @bikequeen
Indeed, what else to use instead of British Racing Green for tese cars.
@johnb Had to be British racing green ;). The paint was really old and had been in awful conditions very cold to very hot over the last 16 years or so, so it was a challenge to use it, but I finally wrangled it 🙂
@bikequeen - Fantastic work Cricket! Gorgeous!
@brithebuilder Thanks Brian 🙂
Excellent work ( as you always do) on this complex looking model @bikequeen ! My hat is off to you.
@ssgt Thank you Jay!
It’s like being at an auto show when I’m viewing your photos!
Great looking model.
@georgeswork Thank you sir! High praise
Cricket, Gorgeous model !,
I was riding with a friend of mine one night in his 65 impala with what he thought was a pretty impressive 327 V8 under the hood, when one of these Super 7's pulled along side of us, of course it didn't take long and the race was on...briefly however. I still remember seeing the guy in the little Lotus, look up at us, wave and disappeared into the night. It took me years to figure out what exactly that car was.
@shoobiz Thank you Terry, first time I saw a super seven was in the TV show “the Prisoner” :). Had a chance to drive a Lotus Elan years and years and years ago….but I had to give it back 🙂
Whilst still trying to find my way around this site, I stumble upon this build. If you Google, Portmerion, Wales, you should find "The Village"
I've been there.
Very cool place.
However,
I'm not a number, I'm a free man!
And I live to tell the tale 😉
@bozzer thanks man! I loved that show!
Beautiful job, Cricket!

@garybrantley Thank you Gary. Tamiya makes me look good 😉
Amazing work Cricket. Sounds like a grail kit for you, glad you got another chance to build it. Thanks for sharing this great build.

Fabulous Caterham Cricket, love your eye for detail.
