Desert Shark

April 9, 2024 · in Aviation · · 18 · 205

Here's my in 1/72 scale. It's pretty typical of most Academy models I've done. Details in the cockpit are sparse but, a closed canopy and careful painting gives the impression more is there. Parts fit is very good and the plane looks the part. Decals were very thin and reacted well to microsol but the top roundels and fin flashes were out of register so I had to find some replacements in my spare decals.

I'm very happy with the desert paint scheme. I used Mr Color Dark Earth and Mid Stone and Model Master Azure Blue.

  1. A nice clean build, great paint work!

  2. Looks like 1/48.
    Great looking Warhawk, Scott.

  3. Beautiful execution. Paintwork is excellent.

But man, that canopy... trust Academy to never miss an opportunity to miss an oportunity.

Which makes your model a triumph of talent and skill over plastic.

  4. Excellent job, especially for the scale, Scott!

  5. This one turned out really nice, Scott @guitarhack5
The desert scheme and sharkmouth are a great combination.

  6. Gorgeous! I love the desert scheme and you have some very, very beautiful tonal variations in it, Scott @guitarhack5!

  7. Great looking P-40...well done, Scott!

  8. This P-40 turned out really well. Great work, it looks great!

  9. Well weathered P-40. I like the desert camo scheme.

  10. Nice work, Scott.

  11. Great P-40! I always love anything in desert camo, especially P-40. Academy isn't the only kit manufacturer to mess up the quarter window glazing shape on a P-40. You did great on this build, definitely no shortcomings on your part!

  12. You’ve done this plane, and the scale, justice.

  13. 1/72 you say, looks great!

  14. Great P-40! I'm a fan of these small Academy kits - they look good with some TLC!
