1/48 Tamiya P-47D Razorback 318th FG Saipan

July 7, 2024 · in Aviation · · 14 · 334

Fresh off the bench Razorback finish in the marking of the 318th Fg out of Saipan . The 318th Thunderbolts was loaded on Jeep Carriers at Bellows fields then launched from the carrier once it arrived at Saipain where then did a mission once launced from the Carrier then several more from the land base. My great friend whom sadley passed away Norris Graser of Thundercals made the beautiful sheet. So after watching the Wings program on the several times and seeing P-47's launch from Jeep Carries i had to do one , Eventually i will add a center ling drop tank and pilot . I dedicate this build to my good friend Norris .

Items used
P-47D Razorback

  1. Nice tribute build on that P-47 Brian (I am currently building a bubbletop version using the 1/48th Hasegawa kit)

  2. Excellent result, Brian!
    Great tribute to your friend!

  3. That's a beautiful build, Brian @f-104nut
    A great tribute.

  4. Lovely build Brian, great topic with some excellent photos. I think your friend would have been seriously impressed with your dedication.

  5. Well done on the build to commemorate your friend.

  6. Great job, Brian. I love the history behind the build too. I can just imagine the challenge of taking off the deck of a Jeep carrier...not a lot of runway for a loaded P-47.

  7. Those are terrific markings. Very nicely done commemorate, Brian.

  8. Same about the history. The model turned out well done.

  9. Nice tribute to your friend, Brian (@f-104nut). Well done on the model and markings. Looking at the P-47 taking off I can imagine there was a seriously high pucker factor flying a TBolt off a carrier.

  10. Thanks for sharing this great build tribute to your late friend, Brian. Thanks also for the jeep carrier photos. This is a wonderfully colorful P-47, even if you only consider the flaps. Congratulations!

  11. That’s a beautiful Thunderbolt! Great work on it.

  12. Very nice work all around. I had no idea about this history. Thanks.
