Dragon 1/48 Horten (Gotha) Ho 229B
The wooden flying wing that was on the final stages of development towards the end of WWII. The single seat flying wings reached the stage of prototype trials, but the night fighter two seat version did not complete the design stage.
Dragon's Horten is probably the worst model in their 1/48 Luftwaffe series. It seems that the lack of information on the topic left voids to be filled by the builder.
The key to successful build is to either to do a complete a build hiding the intricate details of the cockpit and engines, or expose the details and present a partially constructed aircraft like the one that was in display in the Garber Collection..
Excellent job and super result, Rafi!
Thank you Spiros!
A very nice build, Rafi @blackmopane
No signs left of the voids you mentioned.
Thank you John.
The voids are evident with an open canopy and engine cowlings.
Your 229 looks great Rafi. I have the single seat version in my stash. I'll have to take a look at it to see if it has the same issues as the B version. I'll be happy if it looks half as good as yours when I finally get to building it.
Thank you Clint.
The single seat has a reasonable looking cockpit which is the main difference between the two.
Well done!
Thank you Gary!
Looks great ! I like the paint scheme you chose for it. I have the same kit yet to be built.
Thank you Jay!
Nice Build Rafi, @blackmopane. I have built this kit and found it to be typcial of Dragon kits of the time. Sub-assemblies fit together nicely but putting those assemblies together was a struggle. I like your scheme and think you did a good job with the kit overall. I like the turned nose wheel I think it adds to the presentation.
I took a different approach with my camo scheme, I like yours too.

Thank you Walt.
Great build!
That definitely draws your attention! Unusual aircraft done extremely well!
Thank you Greg!
Yes indeed, a product of the Dragon Models Difficult Kits Division. I only did the center section since doing otherwise defeated me.
Yours looks great!
Thank you Tom.
I found that a wingless Horten looks better than the complete model.
