A-7E Cold war exercise, 1/72 Ace kit.

September 19, 2024 · in Aviation · · 9 · 84

A while back I posted a video of an dropping A couple of nukes, practice of course. At that time, it was part of their mission, after selecting loft the computer would indicate when to release going vertical at that time to get the h**l out of Dodge. In reality it probably was a one-way trip. I did see an A-7 crew practice loading and unloading a shape, in the hanger deck, they cleared out they bay and posted Marines all around the aircraft.

The kit is from , I think it's a knock of the Fujimi kit. I had used it as a donor kit for my F-8X whatifa. Not a very good kit , decals are useless. I modified a conventional bomb to resemble a B-43 nuke.

I can’t tell which of the vertical photos are from your video or all of your model.
I always wonder if VA25 Fist of the Fleet emblem was supposed to be the hand of Zeus holding the lightning bolt ⚡️.

  4. Well done, Robert. Most definitely a one way trip. I remember reading about mission profiles involving A-1s flying from carriers in the Mediterranean to strike Crimea with nukes. I think the idea was to land in Turkey…..Not great odds.

  5. Well done, Robert! Excellent project!
