Hasegawa 1/48 BF-109F-2, Werner Molders, JG51, July, 1941

September 11, 2024 · in Aviation · · 15 · 217

This is another BF-109, this time it's an F-2, flown by in 1941.
I added belts and cockpit details, corrected the wheel wells and added brake lines.
Paints are Tamiya acrylic, weathering with oils and pastels, and kit decals (worked very well).

Thanks for looking again,
Colin

  1. beautiful work, I love the paint and the subtle weathering

I'm somewhat new to the hobby and look forward to some day being able to do 109's even close to what you have here

  2. Oddly, my Hase F-2 just arrived yesterday... going to do the red-nosed Assi Hahn version---always wanted to do it since I saw it in one of my books a good 40+ years ago.

  3. Colin, @tail-dragon, you did an excellent job on this build, and I think matched the weathering to the pictures very well. It really is a great looking build.

  4. That leading edge on the wing looks like a lot of work, excellently done.
    Great 109, Colin

  5. Excellent result on this one too, Colin!
    Well done!

  6. This 109 is a beauty! Great job.

  7. Cannot agree more with the previous comments, Colin @tail-dragon
    Absolutely wonderful.

  8. Great work, congrats!
Just one note: you had a lot of work filling and sanding the fuselage center line when, as a matter of fact, the 109s had a center line panel line running along most of the top and the bottom of the fuselage ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Center line is resribed on both, it is difficult to see because of the paint and lighting ...

  9. A lovely 109! Excellent work on that wing leading edge line. I've been intimidated to attempt that in 1/72...

  10. Very neat. Lovely finish on the 109 Colin ๐Ÿ˜Š

  11. Very well done - you nailed that camo paint!

  12. Agree. Air brushing that camo (I assume) is perfect. My skills are not there yet.

  13. Beautiful work on this 109.
