Roden's Fokker D.VI in 1/32 scale – Lt.d.Reserve Josef Filbig, Jasta 80b, western front, summer 1918.
My latest WW1 model is this challenging but rather smart Fokker D.VI model. The main points of contention were the lower wing and the undercarriage struts. I added some framing into the fuselage as well as additional non-model parts such as the seatbelts, the plastic card panels under the fuselage and the rear fuselage handholds, made from medium thickness fuse wire. The fuselage and rudder markings were from the kit, the lettering for the name 'Jette' from old transfers from the spares box which needed major surgery to get them to a useable state and the remaining national markings, the weights table on the left-side fuselage and propellor logos were from spare WnW markings. The white Staffelführer stripe in the middle of the top wing was made from a strip of white-backed transfer paper cut to the relevant dimensions; this markings was semi-transparent, so a couple of thin coats of enamel paint to build up the strength of the colour to make it opaque were needed.
The model is finished in the markings of Jasta 80b on the western front in the summer of 1918; originally used by Lt. Erwin Wenig, it later became the mount of Lt.d.Reserve Josef Filbig, at which point the fuselage band was changed from black to blue; the tailplane colour is speculative but some colour profiles available online suggest both a lozenge finish and blue-painted surfaces - I chose the latter.
The model is part of the 'Great War' group build here - https://imodeler.com/groups/the-great-war-a-tribute-to-those-who-served/forum/topic/rodens-1-32-scale-fokker-d-vi/, and the full video build is available here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDb3QzJbjrk&t=36s.
I hope you like the finish, and thanks for taking time to look in... ;-).
Very nice overall, especially the interior.
Absolutely fantastic result, Paul @paulh
All the extras done are a great addition.
Currently watching the video which is very helpful, thanks for sharing your build this way.
Very nice work and a super result.
Guys, thank you all for your comments. I'm happy with the way this one turned out, and it looks good in the cabinet, too... ;-).
Nice work, Paul. D.VIs aren’t modeled often.

This looks fantastic ! I'll bet it does look very good in the cabinet. Thank you for building yet another model for our ever growing Great War group build. Your continued support is much appreciated.
I have not had much free time lately, so I have not been commenting on the various posts like I want to, yours included.
Maybe this will change eventually. When it does, I look forward to getting back to work on some of my Great War projects.
But I have a family tribute build that has an April 8th deadline, and I have been trying to get it done in time for posting... So until then, I will not be working on my WW1 models.
Great work, Paul (@paulh). It was fun following along on this build.
An awesome result after a fantastic job, Paul!
Congratulations!
Well done, Paul. Your attention to detail is top notch.
Guys, thank you very much. You're all very kind with your compliments, and I appreciate them greatly. Pleased that you all like the end result... ;-).
Very nice build! Well done.
Thanks, Greg - much appreciated... :-).
Beautiful work, I recently completed this model too, so I know the pitfalls of this build. I really like it.
Thanks, Milan... yes, a few tricky things to negotiate, but it's actually a really nice model and looks good when finished.
