Pilatus PC 21, 1/32 Scale, Scratch Build, Part 4
Here we go again, I did quite a lot of work since the last post, I want to get some build time in before I make another trip to the DRC, so this is what I have done since the last post.
- Shaped a spinner from Balsa wood and vac form.
- Laminate 2 x 1mm thick plastic card for the propeller blades.
- Shaped the blades, drill and install mounting pins.
- Make up propeller hub. ( with the propeller blades installed in the "feathered" position it looks like it's going at a 1000mph)
- finish and paint engine and nose gear wheel well.( lots of wiring and piping to get it to look ok)
- Glue in fire walls and engine into cowl.
- I will scribe in all the panel lines and install the exhausts when I mount the nose to the fuselage.
Now for the cockpit...
It does not sound like a lot of work, but it was quite exhausting to get the look right.
I hope you all approve, please feel free to comment.
Let me know if you are still interested in regular posts and if I I am explaining things ok for you to follow. Please feel free to PM me if you would like more information.

You continue to amaze, Marc...outstanding craftsmanship, sir.
Thanks a mil Craig
Blikemmer!. Looking great as always buddy.
My Chom.
You are a master craftsman for sure. I always look forward to the next edition of progress with your builds. I especially like the in progress photos and explanation of how you accomplished building the parts. It's really cool when the parts come together !
Thanks for the comment Louis, I will keep them coming.
As I said before, at this rate you are definitely going to finish this one by Easter. I definitely enjoy reading your build log so keep them coming.
Thank goodness I did make this build a Frying Pan Challenge, I would be in serious trouble now. Thanks for you comments George.
DID NOT... a simple typo, don't get excited Guy's.
Like others, I'm amazed at your skills. I enjoy your write-ups and hope you continue them.
Yes, this would not be a candidate for the Frying Pan Challenge, but I can see where flustration (my own word - flustered + frustration = flustration) might get the better of a lesser craftsman!
Ha Ha, indeed Jeff, I am just concerned that all the posting might be a bit too much for others to handle. I glad you find it enjoyable at the very least. Thanks as always for you kind comments.
Amazing stuff, kit makers can't match what you are doing here Marc, one-of-a-kind!
Cheers Michel, that is what I wanted to do, I got so tired of building Me109's, Fw 190's, Spitfires etc, it just got boring. All the stuff I wanted to build was never available in 1/32 scale or will never be available. That is basically what made me decide to build my own kits, I don't think you will ever find a 1/32 scale Porter or Pc 21. Thank you for your kind comments.
You have a rare talent Marc.
Hey Anthony, My Wife thinks so too, she say's that I can hid in the hobby room the whole day without food or drink, or help around the house... How did things work out with the O2. Thanks for the kind comment.
The talent your wife noticed is also rare and very useful. ? See p..m
Indeed
Loving the progress Marc! Keep those updates coming...!
Hey there Greg. Thanks for the comment Bud. I'll keep them coming.
Another NATS winner in my book! Just AWESOME Marc!
Thanks a mil Morne, what are you entering at the Nats?
Very fine.
