1/350 USS Missouri

May 17, 2018 · in Ships · · 13 · 4.9K

Hi everyone!

I finally got some time to upload this one, another iconic ship, . This is from back in the early days of my serious modeling, and involved a lot of new tools and technology that I've never done before, including a full photo-etch detail set and airbrushing a scale ship. I also decided to paint this ship in historically accurate camo pattern, which fortunately hid some of the lack of details that I did not have the skills to do back then. All in all, this model is lacking in comparison to some of my other works and especially of other modelers on this website, but it is still proudly displayed as my first serious scale model work.

Hope you guys enjoy the model, thanks for looking!

  2. Looks pretty darned good to me!

  3. I certainly wouldn't use the term "lacking" when describing THIS build...VERY nice work.

  4. That’s a nice, clean version of the “Mighty Mo”. I’d be proud to display that ship in my house. Keep building.

  5. Oh she is spectacular! Well done! I had the honor of re-enlisting aboard her in Pearl Harbor where she now s a museum on my way home from Iraqi Freedom. She is a magnificent ship and you have done her justice! well done!

  6. Great result, John. Perserverence is the key to ship modelling, and you’ve certainly shown your commitment with this fine model.

  7. I see no reason for you to apologize for anything in this model.
I would call it good traditional ship modeling.
    Keep it up!

  8. Awesome work, John! Ship modeling is the most difficult genre of our hobby. Models like yours inspire me. I presume you masked and sprayed the superstructure parts prior to final assembly?

  9. Looks great to me! A nice tribute to an iconic warship.

  10. Not lacking to much! Fabulous ship and model. Great job.

  11. I have to add another comment, absolutely don't apologize for anything on this build. It is super clean, PE well attached and straight, the splinter cammo which is a bear to apply to topside surfaces is spot on. You did great my friend, I spent 26 years on and around warships in the USN, and got to see a couple of the BBs when they were brought out for Desert Storm, you did great!

  12. VERY well done, John!

  13. nice, very good job, I have the same one, waiting to update it with the eduard set.
