Mini Whiskey 7 #2 1/48 Monogram C-47 Skytrain
I finished Mini W7 #1 roughly a year ago, and since then I've started volunteering at the museum that owns the real Whiskey 7. I donated Mini W7 #1 to the museum and she resides in their gift shop. So I had to build myself a Mini W7 #2. Just finished her up yesterday. She will be part of a display on my stand along with two other planes owned by the museum.
The kit is a 1978 Monogram 1/48 C-47 Skytrain. I used the Eduard photo etch interior, exterior and flaps. The area directly behind the cockpit was all scratch built. The seats in the cargo area were also scratch built, along with the pitot tube cover, gust locks, wheel chocks, flags, antenna, stairs, anti collision light, and donation bomb. Paints used were a combination of Model Master enamels, Tamiya acrylics and a custom mix of acrylic craft paint thinned with a mix of future and water.
Looking really good. I like the donations (?) bomb next to the entrance. Lots of colour nuances making it more intetesting to look at.
Thank you! Yep that is a donation bomb.
Nice job, Christina. Nice touch with the flags. Looks like she's ready for the airshow season.
Thank you! The real Whiskey 7 is currently in the hangar for winter maintenance, getting ready for airshow season!
I really like it when people model warbirds as they exist in the present day. Yeah, the donation jar is a great little detail. Also, having the top hatch off lets you show off that great 70's Monogram interior which is normally mostly hidden when you're done. Great job Christina!
Thank you! The real Whiskey 7 is typically displayed just like that with the flags out of the hatch.

Very nice!
Thank you!
Great job! The gust locks were a nice touch.
Thank you!
Beautifully done! I got this model through the mail back around 1980, and the fuselage had warped - from getting too warm in transit I suppose. I wrote the company and they sent me new fuselage halves. Same thing happened with the Monogram B-24!
Thank you!
Nicely done! Does Whisky 7 ever get down to The Airpowers museum on Long Island?
Thank you! I don't believe she has, but they usually try to make it to as many events as possible if invited.
Nicely done Christina, my dad made 21 jumps from C-47's during the war, 2 combat, Normandy and Holland. Good old plane that still lives on.
Thank you!
Outstanding!
Thank you!
