Hasegawa 1:48 CF-104D
CF-104D, Lockheed model 583-04-15, Lockheed construction number 583A-5303, RCAF serial number 12633, Mk.1 (Dual Training Aircraft), built by Lockheed. Taken on service March 23, 1962; it served the 448 Test Squadron "Central Experimental and Proving Establishment" (CEPE) at Cold Lake for many years; withdrawn from use May 23, 1973. Overall a good fitting kit including the inserts. The kit has a lot of extra parts as the single seat option is included. The speed brakes require a little re-work as they are meant to be posed open. I could find no photos of a -104 at rest with them open so I closed them. Kit decals were used but they didn't quite settle into the panel lines no matter what solutions I used. As luck would have it, my bottle of Walther's Solvaset showed up three days later. For paints I used Vallejo Metallics over Tamiya X-1 Gloss Black. The Stabilizers were painted Tamiya X-7 Gloss Red. The top of the wings was painted Tamiya X-2 Gloss White. The bottoms were painted Tamiya XF-12 IJN Grey as recommended by this site...http://hedgehoghollow.com/buzz/Colour_Guide/aircraft_clr.html The tip tanks were painted in an RCAF colour called "Orange (Fluorescent) on two seaters only. I mixed up a hand full of X-7 Gloss Red, X-6 Gloss Orange and X-8 Lemon Yellow
Yes ,the missile with a man in it! They all look sharp. You've got the old Canadian flag to boot! Woof! Woof!
Very nice and detailed George. well documented. Beautiful job.
All the best!
Thank you gentlemen
Very nice! And a photo from below, please?
Great looking Star Fighter(s) George. I built four in the smaller scale with Canadian markings.
Really nice! Hard to make a Starfighter not look good, but you got them looking really good.
Another winner, George. Can’t beat a shiny Starfighter!
Very much appreciated gentlemen
Nice needle George, nice needle indeed. (in denmark we called them pregnant needles with a shaving-blade across)
Thanks Erik
Looks great! Lots of color on that one.
Thank you Greg
