Matilda
The second of my summer armor builds, this is the Tamiya 1/48 kit. I think I've mentioned before how much I like these 1/48 Tamiya armor kits. This one is no exception. And, if like me, you don't like doing bogie wheels, this is the tank model for you! The Caunter scheme was painted with AK Real Colors and the weathering was done with AK acrylic and enamel washes. The figure was done in oils. I may have overdone the chipping but, I am very happy with this one.
Scott, Looks really nice. Something about your finish gives it that heavy piece of steel look, like a real tank should have. Even the guy looks very good. I like this a lot !
Great work again Scott! The chipping gives it a very well traveled look that goes well with the other weathering effects.

Thanks Walt. I used the hairspray technique on this one. However, the AK Real Color paint is a laquer so using a stiff toothbrush and water only partially worked in getting pant to “chip.” I also ended up using a hobby knife with a new blade to scrape some paint off here and there.

Looks great - the chipping is very realistic for a tank in the Western Desert.
I too like quarter scale Tamiya armor, Scott, especially when built as nice as your Matilda.

I like it! Chipping looks very balanced and in scale. Did you use AK chipping fluid? I employed that for the first time on an old Tamiya PanzerII that I am modeling in DAK paint & markings. I like the effect I get with it. I plan on using more AK weathering fluids in the future. Once again nice work on the Matilda. It inspires me to build my 48th scale Tamiya T-34/76. Keep the armour coming!

Love the caunter scheme looks great - so does the chipping - it gives a nicely worn and battered look.
Can one overdo the chipping on a tank? That is an existential question for the philosophers among us! Looks great to me. I'm with Cleaver - a great scheme.

You can't have too many chips, another great result on a Tamiya kit, definitely liked.
