Avro Vulcan B1a Blue Steel Project.

Well, I just couldn't resist it. Despite loads of Leopard projects piling up, when I decided to restore my other B1a, I just HAD to start another one.

This particular one is going to be XA903. This was a B1a that was modified for firing trials in Australia. Many people have said that the B1a was incapable of carrying Blue Steel because of it's smaller wing span, but this proves that it was possible. The 12ft increase in span was more about the handling of the aircraft. So no, I have not fitted the wrong bomb bay before anyone says.

  1. A challenging project, but excellently so far executed, Ian!
Double oops for the resin misfit indeed!

  2. You, sir, are in dire need of a straitjacket and a padded cell. 🙂

  3. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
This build promises to be a very befitting build and project.
One learns from those OOOOPS ! moments, there is nothing wrong in that.
Heck ... you caught it on time. It could've been worse way past the build and after the painting stage. That is part of modeling, it is all good and fun !

    • Many thanks, it's one of the things I love about this hobby, we're always learning something new. I also like to put comments up like that so that anyone else who wants to do the same conversion can avoid the same mistakes.

  4. This seems to be the start of a challenging project, Ian @ianfoulk96
Looking forward to see you solving the 'ooops'.
