1/32 Ju87D-8 "Night Stuka", Hasegawa 08171
This is Hasegawa's Ju87D-8 “Night Stuka”. I tried to replicate the box art which I like very much. The most difficult part of the kit IMO is the canopy. I sanded off the molded on structure and polished it again. Then I tried to add the internal structure with Evergreen strip, so it would look more like the real thing. I found it very difficult to glue this in place because any mistakes would always be visible through the canopy. I decided to leave the moving parts of the canopy loose to be able to have a look inside. Therefore I had to cut the machine gun from its socket which doesn't look with the gunners canopy removed, but it was the only way to achieve this.
The cockpit was detailed with wire, scratch and instrument panels from Kits World, the seat belts are made from masking tape and thin wire. I added the 20mm barrels from Schatton, and Master Model MG81Z barrels, which make a lot of difference.
Camouflage is the standard German splinter scheme, I used Mr Hobby paint. Then I painted the night camouflage pattern with chipping fluid. After painting the sand yellow I removed the chipping fluid with water, revealing the pattern. It came out rather nicely, a field applied hand painted look. A lot of work but worth the effort. Weathering was done with Tamiya paints, oil paints and pigments. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
My oh My! Well done, Erik! That is a great job and that paint job is the star of the show.
The kit as a whole looks great! Awesome paint as well! i can imagine the hours it took!
You should add that it is the 1/32 kit.
Thanks for the tip!
Incredible paint job! Liked.
Very impressive scale modeling! 👍 Your work with the Evergreen strips is incredible! 😃
A fantastic model, Erik!
Superb painting!
That is quite a standout. Very good attention to detail and you're right the Machine guns are slick. The elaborate camouflage you achieved nicely, but I can't figure out if it was worth all the effort the Germans put into it.
Great model.
This Stuka looks amazing, Erik @erikvkok
Excellent work done on the canopy and the rest as well.
The hand painted look is fantastic, time consuming but the result is definitely worth it.
That paint job was labor-intensive but well worth the result. A really good looking model, and your work on the canopies turned out well also.
A super build Erik. Full of detail with a cracking finish 👍 nice one
Lovely paint scheme. Well done!
Nice Stuka - and super paintwork!
Agree with what everyone else said! She's a beauty and I love the paint work and weathering.
Great job . The canopy looks nice and the gun barrels are definitely an improvement over the kit supplied ones, That is a good looking paint scheme also.
Beautiful work on your stuka!
...such excellent workmanship and attention to detail...down to your subtle propeller blade worn paint. I'm envious...and thank you very much for the high-quality, detailed photos...just superb!
