"Cactus Cat": Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat. Tamiya 1/48 scale
After reading another book on the Guadalcanal campaign, I finally decided to finish this model I had sitting on the shelf about 70% complete. It's a Wildcat from VMF-223 in 1942, flying from Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, the famous Cactus Air Force.
Because many of these planes were kept flying with cannibalized parts, I opted for a dirty finish, with some panels in a slightly different tone than the rest of the plane.
Looks awesome, Jay!
Nice job, Jay. Like the weathering.
Love it
Looks absolute great, Jay @jaybiga
The different shadings of the panels and weathering makes it very realistic.
Thanks all! I appreciate it.
Very nice looking Wildcat ! You dun good , Jay !
Fantastic finish on this, Jay.
Thanks gents!
Great-looking Wildcat - love the S. Pacific theater - rugged place to try to keep aircraft flying!
