Trumpeter 1/48 F-100C Super Sabre

December 15, 2023 · in Aviation · · 39 · 0.7K

Each had unique exhaust burnt prints on the rear fuselage that also varied between aircraft sides and obviously showed different patterns with the aging airframe.

's 1/48th Hun is a comfortable platform to show the variations in terms of kit price, ease of build and relatively accurate outlines.

  1. Very nicely done! The paint job is great.
One of my favorite "early" jets.

  2. Awesome job on the "burnt metal" on the aft fuselage. It takes a lot of patience to get right but the results are worth it. It took me about a week on my 1/48 F-100D (here on iModeler)...just worked on it until it looked "right".

  3. Fantastic job on the tail

  4. A beautiful Hun! Love the metal staining work.

  5. Awesome job, Rafi! You got the burned metal effect dead-on!
    Congratulations!

  6. Looks great! Nice job. I always loved the look of the Hun.

Last time I saw an F-100 in flight was as a kid at a Thunderbirds show on Waikiki Beach in the 1960s.

  7. Well done! The heat burned rear fuselage is very convincing.

  8. That is awesome work Rafi! I'm not a big jet guy, but I do love the century series fighters and the super Saber is one of my top favorites. Your engine heat discoloration on the rear is outstanding. Top notch my friend, great work!

  9. A superb piece of modeling! Nicely done, Rafi. @blackmopane

  10. Excellent finish all the way around. Looks very authentic.

  11. I fully agree with all the above mentioned compliments, Rafi @blackmopane
An overall awesome finish and especially the burnt metal looks very realistic.

  12. Excellent Hun, Rafi. Getting that staining right is very difficult.

  13. Well done, Rafi (@blackmopane). The discolored metal looks very realistic.

  14. A really super looking Super Sabre, Rafi.

  15. Excellent Hun, Rafi @blackmopane! 👍 The heat damaged rear looks very nice and yes, that is always the first thing a scale modeler looks for on any F-100. 😉 My very first article here at iModeler was my Monogram F-100D, it's always been a favorite from the Fifties for me! 😃

  16. Absolutely lovely. I will be referring to this when I get around to building one!

  17. Another excellent build from your hand, Rafi @blackmopane
The burnt metal at the Hun’s rear is spot-on!
Your output of quality models is truly phenomenal, how many hours do you spend at the bench in an average week?

  18. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Absolutely impressive modeling any way one sees this F-100 model, Rafi!
Beautiful show of skills on the engine heat discoloration on the rear, it looks
    convincing.
Thank you for sharing these images.

  19. The F100C Super Saber with tail markings SK 737 was flown out of Tuy Hoa Vietnam by my grandfather Lt. Col Fred J Fink. This is a great representation of his plane. The only two things missing are the Dickie Bird on the top of the tail and the name Miss MyNookie on the nose. I would love to get in contact with you and see if you could build two more, one for me and one for my mom. The photo below was when it was still in Albuquerque NM at Kirtland AFB before he was deployed. Thanks

    • Wow, Jason! Thank you for sharing.
I used to do commission builds and sell online. However, I stopped because the models do not last the journey no matter what packing material or postal courier I used.
