Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Swift FR.5
I was so pleased when Airfix said they were rereleasing this and it duly arrived.
The fit of the cockpit/wheel well assembly is fairly sketchy but can be improved by shaving about 1.5mm from the cockpit front and fitting the two assemblies separately.
Other than that it went together rather nicely and gave me no issues at all.
Primed with Tamiya Nato Black.
Painted with.
Colourcoats Dark Sea Grey, Dark Green and PRU Blue
SMS Insignia White.
Tamiya Rubber Black, Semi-Gloss Black, Nato Black and Gun Metal.
Xtreme Metal Aluminium
It was just give a Flory Dark Dirt Wash.
Finished with.
AK 3rd Gen Matt varnish thinned 80/20 with their 3rd Gen Thinner which when thinned down that much gives a nice satin effect.
As always, thanks so much for looking,
Cheers,
Alistair
Nice work on this, Alistair. A solid result. I built one when they were first released, and it is still to my mind one of their better 1/72 releases.
What would be really nice would be for Airfix to upscale this to 1/48.
Thanks very much Tom.
It has it's foibles but it is a good kit and a great subject.
I would love this in 1/48 too.
Yes, indeed! A 1/48 kit would be great!
A beautiful little Swift! Well done.
Thanks very much Greg.
Great result on this build, Alistair @alistairfgauld
At first I thought I was looking at a Hunter, it does have quite some similarities with that aircraft.
Thanks so much.
Superb result, Alistair! Your excellent build really emphasizes the charm of the Swift!
Well done!
Many thanks Spiros.
Nice work, Alistair. Inspiration to pull mine out of the stash soon!
Thanks very much.
It's a nice build. Go for it.
I don't see many of these built. This one is excellent!
Thanks so much
Dear Alistair @alistairfgauld
You did a wonderful job on this kit, which i really a gem in my opinion. The prussian blue underside is just beautiful. Wish Airfix could come up with more schemes (which is difficult, granted).
Many Thanks,
Although anything with PRU Blue is going to look good.
Very smooth work!
Thanks so much.
