Hi y'all! I'm in Salt Lake City, UT and after 40+ years of absence, I got back into building 1/48 modern jets when COVID hit. Gotta admit, it helped me keep my sanity & avoid 24x7 news - and my wife really supported me! Used to be an avid builder in my youth after my Dad took me to the EAA Fly-In in Oshkosh, WI when I was 8, and still look up in the sky to look at any aircraft passing by...squirrel! Really enjoy improving my methods & skills on each model, and stunned at the after-market business that is out there - the market has come a long way, for sure. Happy modeling, and remember, if it breaks, that's what super-glue is for 🙂
Hello modelers! I finally finished my F-4E Phantom, going with the European camouflage schema with AGM-65 Maverick A2G missiles and high-res decals. Meng decals are incredibly easy to work with, zero issues. The camouflaged paintwork was [...]
Hello fellow modelers! How ironic that I got back into modeling in 2020 during COVID to keep my sanity and I'm now wrestling with my 3rd round of COVID as I finished this build. Such is the world we now live in. But sick time and holiday [...]
OK, little bit of venting with this one. This is my first Kinetic build and I wanted to try a free-hand camouflage paint pattern; so I scored this from my local hobby shop. It took waaay longer than expected, mostly due to fitting issues [...]
After my Tamiya 1/48 F-16 build earlier this year, I came across this 1/12th cockpit kit on E-Bay by ESCI. Which, I've seen before, and I figured it would complement the 1/48th build on the shelf. And given my admiration for this [...]
Hello fellow modelers. This Meng F/A-18E Super Hornet took about 9 months to build, the extended period due to a move from South Carolina to Salt Lake City, living out of a hotel, then an apartment, and finally a home where I could set up [...]
Hello everyone! This is my first Hasegawa build, and I found it different from my traditional Tamiya builds (mostly instructions & decals). I built a Sabre in my youth, so it was fun applying my skills & techniques and brought [...]
OK, so it's probably not a perfect block 32 F-16, but pretty close. This smaller aircraft took more patience, especially on the wheel bays, panel line shading, and cockpit. I tried the Quinta Studios (Russian-based company) 3-D decals [...]
Really love the artwork they applied to jet aircraft back in the 70's & 80's, and who doesn't love skull & crossbones on the back of an F-14? Not to mention this aircraft was featured in the iconic film, Final Countdown with one [...]
After being away from modeling for over 40 years, I decided to pick my childhood passion back up again during COVID. My wife really encouraged me, so I jumped back in with a Tamiya 1/48 F-15C (one of my all-time favorite jets - she's [...]
