I currently work as a criminal investigator for the State of Texas Inspector General’s Office. Prior to that I was with the Abilene, TX Police Department and was a Detective in the Fraud Unit and a member of the SWAT team. I primarily build 1/48 aircraft from WW II and Korea but will occasionally work in a modern jet.
This is a nice kit but my problems started when I decided to put the Aires cockpit in it. It was not that great of an improvement to the kit parts and it was too wide. I sealed the fuselage and inserted it as a unit up through the wing opening[...]
This is a remake of a previous build of this aircraft that met an unfortunate demise. The figure was intact and matched the pose for Schiehs so I replaced the original Hasegawa build with the Eduard. This is pretty much box stock except for Br[...]
I had all kinds of trouble with the fit of this kit...probably self-inflicted. This is not my best build. There are all kinds of mistakes on it. I used the Pavla cockpit and nose gear well. The cockpit opening is too small and that puts the [...]
This is a Hurricane I flown by Robert Stanford-Tuck. I added elevators and wheels by Ultracast, Falcon rear canopy, a Yahu instrument panel, and a pilot figure bashed together from my parts box. Not happy with the snow base. Too heavy-handed. Be[...]
This is an early Hasegawa boxing of the Mania Models Ki-27 from about 1977...I think. I put some Eduard details in the cockpit including a seat, belts, and instrument panel but since its so small I really didn't do much more there. The kit can[...]
This is the 1/48 Yak-3 by Eduard. I put a Aerobonus pilot, Yahu instrument panel and Ultracast exhausts. The decals are from Begamot. Pilot is Marcel Albert from the Normandie-Nieman Group.
Here is my D.520. Its almost straight out of the box except exhaust stacks from ultra cast and a photoetch gunsight from Eduard. The pilot figure is from PJ Productions. Markings are a combination of masks and the god awful Tamiya decals. I [...]
I added a CMK interior and some wire to the engine and landing gear but that's about it. I am not sure who made the pilot's body but the head is from Reheat. This is my interpretation of Hiroyoshi Nishizawa's aircraft. This is a Mutsubishi buil[...]
This was built primarily out of the box with an Ultracast seat added and the prop pieced together from a CMK 109E prop. The documentation is all over the place on this aircraft. I have seen it referred to as a B, C, and D in publications. I w[...]
This Hellcat was flown by Texas pilot Arthur "Ray" Hawkins of VF-31 on the USS Cabot in September, 1944. I added an Obscureco cowl, Quickboost engine, and Squadron canopy. The pilot figure was bashed together from my parts box...head, torso, leg[...]
