I began building models in the 1970s, starting with Aurora dinosaurs and monsters. In my teenage years I moved into military aircraft, tanks, and ships - many of which became targets for BB guns and fireworks. Getting back into the hobby in my late 20s, I began contributing build articles to "Modeling Madness.com". I am now building a collection of primarily military subjects; Fighters, Bombers, Tanks, Military Dioramas and Ships. I still build an old dinosaur and monster kit from time to time. All of my projects can be seen at my website, http://www.lylesmodels.com. Best wishes, Scott.
Here is Eduard's 1/48 Polikarpov I-16 Type 24, popularly associated with Boris Safonov. I added some rivets using a rivet tool and rocket rails under the wings. I also added Moskit exhausts. More photos are available at my website [...]
Here is the 1/48 Pe-2 from Zvezda. A very enjoyable kit to build with a fully detailed interior and two full engines. I used decals from Begemot to depict the Pe-2 of General Polbin during February 1945 when Soviet forces were battling [...]
Finished the 1/48 Tamiya Il-2 Shturmovik. It's a great kit - Tamiya's excellent kit engineering makes it very fun to build. I added riveting to the airframe with a rivet wheel, used Eduard's photo etch for the seatbelts, and also [...]
My latest build, Tamiya new (ish) KV-1 Model 1941. I added resin fuel tanks, resin bedrolls, and some tarps made out of Milliput. For the basecoat I used a mix of Tamiya's acrylics that I got from an old 1/48 KV-2 article written by [...]
Here is Dragon's 1/35 Panzer IV Ausf F1 in an Eastern campaign winter whitewash. Built pretty much straight out of the box except for some stowage items from an old Verlinden set. Painted with Tamiya paints. Thanks for looking - more [...]
