Revell (MPM) 1/72 P-70 Nighthawk

The 481st Night Fighter Operational Training Group (481 NFOTG) was the primary night fighter Operational/Replacement Training Unit (OTU/RTU) of the Army Air Forces during World War II. Its mission was to train either new graduates of [...]

AMT Havoc In Flight

This is the AMT A-20G Havoc in 1/48th scale that I completed a couple of months ago. I have a build thread in the Pacific Theater group with details of the build so I will limit the article here and photos to just enough to point you to [...]

Revell's 1/72 A-20C Havoc/Boston III.

This is an old build that I made back around 1988. I remember having a great time building this kit. I recently gave this a good clean and repaired a missing aerial and loose main wheels. Not too bad for a model made 35 years ago. Back in [...]

1/48 AMT/ERTL Boston III (early)Desert Air War Group Build

The DB-7B/Boston Mk III was the exported British version of the Douglas A-20C mid-1941. So many Bostons were modified and assembled on British airfields and elsewhere that it can be difficult to pinpoint the actual airframe model just by [...]

In October 1940, upon USAAC’s feeling a need for long-range fighters more than attack bombers, a decision was taken to convert sixty of the production run of A-20s to night fighter status, all delivered by September 1942. The so called [...]

1/48 Douglas A-20 by AMT

Lots of aftermarket items added to this build. The engines, cowlings, propellers, control surfaces, cockpit, control panel, guns, and wheels. Foxbot decals were also used to replace the kit ones. I fabricated the pitot head on the fin, [...]

A-20B Havoc 1/48 AMT ( with my lovely Tigercat )

A-20B, “Miss Burma” of the 86th Bomber Squadron, 47th Bombardment Group, based in Italy in 1943.The curious thing about this plane is its name, given that it served in the Mediterranean rather than the China-Burma-India [...]

“Cry ‘Havoc,’ and let slip the dogs of war”… Kasserine Pass Build Group A-20B Havoc

First, a thanks to all who've participated in the Kasserine Pass/Tunisia Campaign Group Build, which has been a blast and has already seen some remarkable submissions with more to come. Before I get into my own contribution, I would like [...]

Douglas A 20G Boston, A28-60, 22 Sqn RAAF Noemfoor Island 1944.

1/72 MPM, I modified a few things, upper turret guns hinge, added alloy foil to landing lights, tinned copper wire push rod tubes to engines, finished in MM enamels with Future and Xtra flat over kit and Aussie decals from the spares box.

1/48 AMT P-70 Nighthawk

Finally pulled this off the shelf to complete my A-20 series of aircraft. I discovered that working with black is about as difficult as working with NMF. This model represents a P-70 that was with Detachment A, 6th Night Fighter Squadron [...]
