Finally, after forty-eight years !

October 18, 2018 · in Armor · · 15 · 1.8K

I got my first plastic kit, a Frog DH.88 Comet for my 7th birthday... I'm 55 now and have been building ever since.

In those intervening years I have tried every aspect of modelling, mostly aircraft, but had a go at every other genre. That said (and I cannot prove it to you), in all those years I have started many German WWII armour kits but until last night I had never, NEVER finished one.

This is 's lovely wee Ausf. M from 2007 built entirely from the box, painted with Tamiya acrylics and weathered down with home-brewed filters & washes and Mig pigments. Nothing too much more to say just over two weeks from opening the box which is virtually unheard of for me, and just goes to prove how vice-free a contemporary kit can be even for those of us cursed with sausage fingers and middle-age !

Please feel free to ask any questions, or make any comment / criticism. Can't be sure what's next, depends what shouts loudest from the depths of the stash. Have a great weekend, all.

Ian.

  1. Well, the long wait was worth, it’s a splendid Wespe. That subtle brown squiggle is very well done, most realistic in my opinion. Well done sir!

  2. Really good! A well balanced vehicle: nor new nor over weathered
    🙂
    Thumbs up to the OOB!
Having fun is the first principle.

    I like this a lot.

  7. Thanks folks, not going to go mad and build only WWII German armour from here on in as I only have two 'tanks' and a Kubie in the stash.

Really appreciate the comments as ever. Cheers everyone.

    Ian.

  9. Really nice Marder! I really like the balanced weathering. Great Job!

  10. Great work on the armour - nice weathering, good variation in the tones and there’s a real sense of ‘weight’ about this build. Just one criticism, where’s the damned propellor?

  11. Excellent paint and weathering. That’s a great looking build!

  12. Looks really great! I especially like the chipping !
