1/48, Airfix P-40B

March 7, 2019 · in Aviation · · 13 · 3.3K

Hi All,

My recent completion of the , , P-40B. Other than using an Ultracast seat it was built out of the box, painted with Vallejo Model Air and minimal weathering with artist oils pin wash and dry brushing to highlight. The exhaust stains were Tamiya pastels. Sorry the pics aren't the greatest. It was hard to get good pics of the Olive Drab. Hope you like.

  3. Excellent work Gary !

These kits build up very nice right out of the box. I have a few more of these waiting in the stash.

  4. Gary does a P-40! Great job buddy, now on to a E model hey? That B is nicely done, I like it.

  5. Thank you everyone for the comments!

In reference to Tom's comment...I was never a P-40 "guy" before but one thing I love about this hobby of ours...try something new and it takes you down new roads to enjoy and learn. ENJOY!

  6. Looks great! Know what you mean about getting good pics of a monochromatic finish, but they turned out fine.

  7. Very beautiful P-40B, superbly built and finished. Nice to see one without the ubiquitous “tiger mouth”. I wish/hope there will one day be a nice Airfix P-40K (Kittyhawk III) in 1/48 scale.

    • Thanks, Jay. As stated this was my first P-40...I was leaning towards the AVG Shark scheme, because the P-40 just looks so cool with it, but decided to go with the Pearl Harbor scheme instead.

And a Spoiler Alert: But that was mostly because I'm in the middle of building the Hasegawa "E" version and that will have the Flying Tiger, shark scheme.
