What If F111K RAF

This article is part of a series:
  1. “What If” F-111K RAF
  2. What If F111K RAF

This is the first of my "what if" K's. The registration is the actual first one in the block set aside for the F-111 after TSR2 was cancelled. I have painted her as the first one to be handed over at a ceremony at General Dynamics factory

  3. Beautiful work.

TSR-2 would have been soooo much better!

    • Absolutely right Tom! The F-111 was supposed to have the same initial performance as the TSR 2, but that was never achieved until the '80's. TSR2 only ever went supersonic once at the hands of Roland Beamont. It had only one engine in re-heat and it left the E.E. Lightning chase plane standing. Not bad, considering the performance of the Lightning. I have a great book called "Project Cancelled" which shows some amazing aircraft designs - some of which look remarkably similar to some American aircraft of today...
