Roden 1/48 Fokker D.VII

January 23, 2020 · in Aviation · · 9 · 3.5K

Here's my Fokker . The kit decals in may sample were extremely brittle and thick - the glue shows under the carrier film since it doesn't dry clear. If you want to build this kit I suggest getting some aftermarket decals or choosing the Eduard version.

The fit wasn't great but I don't mind that, especially from a smaller company like . Luckily, little fill was needed - the fit issues were solved by trimming and test fitting.

  1. Great work. That’s not an easy kit.

  2. Beautiful work ! This happens to be my all time favorite WW1 aircraft, and I especially like the markings you chose for it. Ernst Udet's "LO" is one of the better known examples. I picked up a Wingnut Wings Albatros D V that has very similar "LO" markings on the fuselage, since it was one of his earlier planes.

  3. It looks excellent, Richard! I love the D VII anyway and yours is a great looking version.

  4. Nice work on not the easiest D.VII kit out there. I like this a lot.

  5. Nice work with the hard-to-handle decals. You've made a sharp looking bird.

  6. How did you find the nose section...I gave up after awful fit problems?!?!?

  7. Yeah, the nose is tough - no guidance on how the parts should line up. I focused on making it square but when I attached it there is a bit of a step which I don't think is accurate. Oh well, I painted that part black and its not too noticable.
