Tamiya P-38F
Here she is at last...life got in the way more than a few times since I started building this wonderful kit.
I added an Ultracast seat and wheels, Master barrels and antenna from spares box. Decals are from the Eduard kit (Academy mold) that was issued a few years ago and the mission markings in the end came from the Pro Modeller boxing of the Hasegawa P-38F/G/H kit (thanks Norris). The mission markings in Eduard kit were way too big based on the pictures of real aircraft.
In summary a great kit and do yourself a favour, buy one and build it, plenty of nice schemes available with more in the offing - Fundekal & Xtradecals have new sheets coming with lots of interesting options. I will be buying them so stay tuned for another P-38 later this year, and hope someone does resin conversion for F-4 recon bird. Happy Modelling Darren
PS - I intend to add the antenna wires once I work out attachment point to canopy...
It was well worth it Darren, can't wait to get one started later this year. As it is on the build list among other new mold kits for 2020. Your project is a great motivator to build it sooner, or coincide with the new decals coming online soon. Regardless another excellent model to grace the Imodeler pages today. A great start to the new year. Thanks for sharing.

I'll chime in by repeating what Chuck has to say... almost word for word. This one will be hitting the bench soon at the "Iron Werks" as well. Thanks to our friend Chuck, you just might be seeing double when you check in on the work journal. I have been following your build journal and will be using it as a build reference when the time comes.
Well done my friend.
I'll make that 3 out of 3. The quality of you build is a great motivator to pull another P-38 out of the pile. Well done
Great looking '38, really like the finish. I too will be doing one of these sometime this year.
Boy, there have been a bunch of these posted all over the net since the kit came out. I think yours is the best I've seen great work!
Further proof it is impossible to get a bad result from this kit. I really like what you did here, the markings are very interesting. The weathering on the paint is excellent. A beautiful result all the way around.
A beautiful model - love the weathering and paint work. Well done!
Nice! Looks great.
🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
A very impressive model Darren. Your weathering touches have been well used and the show of " FUN " building this one can be clearly seen,
Superb finish.
Really nice Darren!
Nothing short of a "Goldilocks" build Darren. Where do you go from here?
Looking forward to seeing your next build.
