1954 Hudson NASCAR 1/25th scale Moebius Models Kit

February 3, 2020 · in Automotive · · 10 · 2K

UPDATE! I have finally finished this Hudson for Jay Ward of Pixar. I have added all of my designed decals and the model is now on it's way to Pixar!

This is an interesting build I have almost completed for Jay Ward the head of Pixar Animation and the creator of the Cars movie series. Jay gave me free-reign to build something for his office, so I decided to build a "real life" Hudson Hornet as it would have raced in 1954.

I found this Hudson kit at my local hobby shop and used it as my starting point. Overall this is a pretty well designed kit but I added a lot of extras as this model was developed as a drag car. I added engine details, custom wheels, all real metal trim, lug nuts, adjusted suspension and more. I have custom decals on the way that I designed and personalized to be a car that Jay would have driven, and I used my son's name as the local speed shop! I will upload more pics when the decals have been applied.

This was a fun build, and to think of it on display at Pixar Studios is pretty exciting!

Let me know what you think!

  7. That is so cool. My grandfather drove Hudson's and we played in one out in the pasture after they junked it. Watching "Cars" with the kids all these years and seeing my dads eyes glass over when he reminisces about the old days before every farm had a truck and what a beast Hudson's were makes my smile when I see a Hudson build.

  8. Thank you! For me that’s what it’s all about, bringing back memories! Thanks for checking it out.
