Vintage Revell P-39 Airacobra 1/46 scale
As I had said in some of my previous posts, following my project to restore or even to build vintage models which bring me back good memories, now I went to this 1955 original Revell mold of P-39 Airacobra.
My oldest brother Pedrinho (82 now) had this model and it was probably one of the very first scale models I had ever seen in my life, I suppose circa 1967 when it was released in Brazil.
I had waited really a very long time trying to acquire this kit, which was quite difficult to find due its rarity. Fortunately I found it on Mercado Livre (local E-bay) and I got it at a fair price.
The first task was to restore the damaged box, with some card reinforcements and retouch the beautiful and nostalgic art with oils and clear varnish to protect.
The building was as simple as possible as I should have done some decades ago, except for the airbrushing. All painting in Polyester inks from Dryco (local mgf.)
This work has become a milestone in my life as a modeler, as it is the first one after my beloved wife Maria has passed away last February, after her long struggle against ovarian cancer, to whom I dedicate this post.
Finally, a good fun to rest my mind and another beautiful antique in my collection full of good memories.

First Roberto, you have my heart felt condolences on the passing of your wife. May she rest in peace. And that's a great job on an old classic kit, and boy does that bring back lots of memories.

Roberto,
Please accept my sincere sympathy also. And thank you for posting this subject. I made this one with my dad back in the sixties. It is always fun to get reacquainted with an old friend.
Best regards,
Russ

I am very sorry for your loss, Sir. God bless her.
I have this model. It looks great built. Not bad at all for 1955! More accurate than the
common Aurora's of the era.
Great job on the pilot, he looks very confident. Looks neat on the stand too.

Dear Bill, thank you for your message. God bless you too.
Its truth. The pilot seams to be very confident on the cockpit!

Roberto, my condolences, I hope you are finding peace in life. This is a great build, and a terrific project. I love the vintage box to go along with the vintage build. Despite the fact that Atlantis Models is re-popping the plastic after all these years (can be bought new!), that gorgeous box art makes this build all the more unique.

Dear Andrew, thank you for your message and condolences.
I agree with you about the original plastic injection. I remember those old box to have a particular noise when shaken, seemed even like Bakelite (do you remember this plastic brand?)

My condolences also, Roberto. May your beloved Rest In Peace. Fantastic job on the model and the restoration of the box. I’d love to say the kit brings back memories for me too, but I was just a twinkle in my father’s eye when this was released!
