Avro Vulcan B1 conversion 25/09/21 update
This article is part of a series:
Well, here's the update today (so far!). The Subject of my conversion is Vulcan B1. I thought it was a B1a, but it seems 903 was a B1. Now the bombay I intended to use was the one from the kit. But it turns out that the Blue Steel rode much lower in relation to the fuselage than it did on the B2 - see the images above. Sooo, I'm getting the standard bombay and cutting it in half lengthwise. For some reason, Airfix moulded door lines on the inside of the bombay doors part. Whether or not Airfix intended to provide an open bombay on their original Vulcan I don't know, but it's good they did. I'll then make a suitably positioned, shape and sized cut out for the Blue Steel on one set of doors, which I can then use to make a matching cut out on the other set of doors. Well, that's the plan...
Looking good, Ian!
Thanks Spiros
Great project, Ian. The Vulcan is so very ... cool.

Thanks Jeff, I needed to take a brake from armour for a while and found a Vulcan B1a that needs some restoration and things have snowballed from there...
