Tamiya 1/48 A-1H Skyraider
Just finished one of models that I started 2 years ago but never completed - 'lost my Mojo'
It is the Tamiya 1/48 A-1H Skyraider and is completed as one of the VA-25 'Fist of the Fleet' aircraft.
Paints used are undercoat white and Tamiya AS16 (light grey) spray paints. The Vallejo black, Vermillion (nose of rocket pods and edges of undercarriage doors), American Green (bombs), Park Green (tip of the tail) and Natural Steel (rocket tubes) are brush painted.
Still to be done is the exhaust stains (only small as the aircraft is clean) and make a USN carrier deck base.
Nice clean build of the Skyraider - well done!
Beautiful Spad Phillip!
I looked hard to figure out what looked wrong with this Skyraider, then it struck me it is way too clean 🙂
Always nice to see a Skyraider, though!
It could be a gate guard. Great job, I like the load out.
Beautiful result, Phillip @phillipe50
You clearly found your mojo.
Great that you found your mojo, Phillip and finished your Skyraider, which looks wonderful! Now onto some light staining!
Well done!
Looks great ! A beautiful airplane beautifully built. A+ workmanship !
I've not built that kit. And it being a Tamiya kit every model I've seen always builds up nicely. Well done sir. I remember when the kit was first announce many years ago. They were hard to come by. Thanks for posting the model and I fully understand losing one's interest in a model. I cleared most of my backlog by just building them, warts and all, without worrying about perceived errors. That is what stops many modelers; which is the desire to make every improvement on a kit that. We are our own worst critics.
Many thanks. Re clearing my backlog - that is what I am doing with only a small amount of getting rid of some of the warts, etc.
Well done, she must have just had her 14 day (plane wash) she looks great!
Don't forget masking tape. @robertandy
Any Spad pilot will tell you if one is clean there's something wrong it it. It's likely the dirtiest airplane ever, with the exhaust staining. It's hard to "over weather" an A-1. Go ahead. This is a MiG-killer BTW.
