Arma Hobby 1/72 P-39N
Love these Arma Hobby kits, even though they are a tad over-engineered. It probably took me about as much time to get the interior finished and the fuselage closed up, as it did all the rest of the process! The kit comes with a great set of markings for Russian, French, and this shark-mouthed US livery. I chose the US version mostly because I really liked the curved white highlights on the tail, wing tips and filet.
Blackbased, then some yellow and brown highlights added to that before the top coats. Drilled the barrels, added a pilot and that's about it for extra effort. The engraving is very nice - I just decided to forego rivets on this build (partly because it was an IPMS review build and it had already taken me longer than it should have...I'll add the IPMS review link once it's posted).
I really like the look of the P-39, and intend to build several more from the Airacrobra family.
Wow, Greg, that's a magnificent scale model! ๐ @gkittinger, It's really great work, and that's from any angle! ๐
Nicely done, Greg. Your finish job makes it look like a larger scale.
What, no wheels? These things fly?
Great paint, love the fading and exhaust staining. These Armas are the cat's heinie, eh. Might have to try one.
Wonder if the white accents were an attempt to change the rudder shape. The fillet is done too.
This is yet another of your wonderful jobs, Greg! The attention to detail is really awesome and the scale is definitely fooled!
Well done!
Great looking cobra Greg!
@gkittinger
Greg, this is one of the nicest P-39 Iโve seen in any scale, and no doubt the best in flight ๐ itโs a little gem
Very nice P-39, Greg @gkittinger. Looks like a terrific model. Interesting white accents.
One of the best P-39 models I have ever seen. Fantastic work, Greg.
This is a beautiful Airacobra, Greg @gkittinger
Lots of details and wonderful paintwork.
Outstanding result, Greg! The paintwork is really well done.
Second 'WOW' today, Greg!
That Arma Hobby kit was in good hands, great P-39. Love the chosen scheme.
Greg, thatโs stunning - what a fantastic piece of modelling!
Dang, Greg, that's a piece of modeling that punches way above its scale! Such wonderful, imaginative paintwork for a simple OD scheme - I'm busy taking notes. And you nailed the photography too, which I've found very difficult at 1/72. I always thought the P-39 looked a little goofy, but you make it aggressive and cool. Where did the pilot come from?
@timtozer231 I buy a lot of PJ Productions pilots, since very few kits provide them anymore.
I like it! Great job enlivening a plain OD paint scheme!
Lovely work, Greg.
Greg Kittinger (@gkittinger)
Outstanding work here ! I really like it. I could tell right away it was one of your builds. Your 'trademark" stand gave it away.
Looks great, Greg.
That is an amazing build, Greg @gkittinger! Beautiful colors- may i ask what colors you used?
@fxrob - the underside is Tamiya XF-83 Medium Sea Gray and the top is MRP-138 Olive Drab (post '43)
Greg your build turned out amazing. Much better than mine. The paint and weathering top notch.
Beautifully finished.
Another terrific build, Greg (@gkittinger). P-39s have a lot of idiosyncrasies, which you have captured perfectly. One of these days you can tell me how you can drill out something as small as the gun barrels in this 1/72 model.
Great work Greg @gkittinger. Those ARMA kits are real gems. You did a fantastic job. Looks like a real well worn bird.
Once again Greg, a VERY nice job! I really love your "in-flight" postings...
Niiice build, congratulations!
Ready nice P-39. Great paint scheme. And a super clean build. I have a 1/72 scale Aircobra in my stash, it's old and I'm not sure what brand it is as it's not in the original box. Photos don't really convey now small a P-39 in 1/72 scale is. Looks like Arma put out a really nice kit and you made it look great.
Very nice! Great photography too.
Fantastic work on a really awesome plane. Excellent detail.
