Matchbox 1/32 D.H. Tiger Moth
This is an old build from 1986. A few days ago I gave it a good cleaning after sitting on the shelf for many years. While cleaning the Tiger Moth a lot of memories of the build came rushing back. I remembered this being a nice build and I added some extra details for the flight control cables and the wings rigging. A fuel line was also added. The tail flight control cables are made by using a light weight fishing line and some stretched sprue by the fuselage. The aileron's flight control cables are made from wires cut to length. Same with the wing's rigging cables. The fuel line was made from a stripped down wire plastic bag twisty. All of the flight controls were cut and glued into an offset position.
I used Tamiya flat yellow acrylic paint and the engine cowling silver was sprayed from Testor's metallic silver rattle can. I also kept it in a factory fresh look.
The markings are not legit so please do not beat me up for it. I used some of the decals from the kit but did not follow the paint plans. I wanted to have a simple looking yellow Tiger Moth owned by a civilian but with RAF Markings.
I feel that Matchbox has done a great job on the Tiger Moth. It represents the aircraft very well.
Well done, Bob, on your spruce up. Glad you had fond remembrance.
Thank you Gary!
A classic build and update, Matchbox did some good kits.
Thank you George Yes Matchbox had some beauties for us to build.
Awesome job on the good Matchbox kit, Bob!
Thank you Spiros!
Bob @v1pro, that is a beauty! 🤩 So well done! 👏
Gary, thank you!
That’s a beautiful airplane , Bob @v1pro , the extra details you added to it really enhance its looks. Well done!
Thank you Jay @ssgt. I remember this being an easy kit to put together. Putting in the extras wasn't bad because there was a lot of room. Probably the easiest bi-plane to make.
Great cleanup of this wonderful Tiger Moth, Bob @v1pro
Even after 38 years it still looks like a fresh build.
Thank you John @johnb. I was glad that this build was not too dirty. It stayed in an enclosed shelf case with two glass doors.
Looks just as good as when it was built, Bob (@v1pro). I am a s****r for a really nice all-yellow trainer. Thanks for posting this guy.
Thank you George @gblair. Yes, yellow is the way to go on a Tiger Moth.
Very nice. @v1pro
Thank you John.
Beautiful Tigermoth. I really like the simple yellow paint scheme, less is more, and this looks wonderful.
Thank you Clint!
Beautiful! I did that same kit a few years back, it's one of my favorites!
Thank you Chas, yes this is a pretty nice kit.
I like it! Very colorful.
Greg, thank you!
Excellent result! Biplanes rule!
Thank you Robert, this is a cool looking bi-plane.
