Avro Lancaster B.VII
Lancaster B.VII was the final production version. The main external difference from previous marks was the slightly forward location of the upper turret. This was to compensate for the change in the inclusion of heaver 0.5 machine guns on the center of balance. It had post war service in the Far East.
I used Revell's 1/72 kit as a platform to depict the B.VII. The objective of the build was to depict the characteristic color variation of Lancaster aircraft operating in the Far East. I used Xtradecal set. While photographing the model I noticed that the decals did not last long. Replacing the roundel was easy, but adding the missing serial number was a different story..
It’s an unusual colour scheme for a Lancaster, Rafi, nice to see something a little different. It will be interesting to see if you get any comments about the exhaust stains.
You opinion counts, George.
In what respect? Lead staining or placement of outer exhaust residue?
This is worth a read, particularly with ref to tetra-ethyl lead.

The solid and thick black staining is not accidental, but based on a photograph of the particular aircraft that unfortunately, I did not keep. It was probably taken near the end of a long mission before landing.
Thank you, for the info Chris.
Excellent job, Rafi!
Thank you Spiros!
Definitely a different looking Lancaster in this scheme, Rafi @blackmopane
You did a great job on this Revell kit. My current experience on this kit is not that positive regarding fit.
Thank you John!
Beauty Rafi. The dark part of the exhaust stream would stand out more but rain, cleaning etc would move/weather it. I know AVTUR soot was a b***h to remove. Interesting scheme. Personally I was pleasantly surprised with the Revell Lanc. Apart from the fairly (I am told) standard cock ups and a "Special" uber cock up for the bomb bay, it went together nicely.
Thank you Chris. As I mentioned, the staining depict a photograph of the aircraft. I would not be surprised if the fuel was not of high quality, so that the extent of soot was greater than usual.
Great job Rafi! This is a nice looking Lancaster and it looks great in this scheme.
Thank you Bob!
Excellent looking model !
Thank you Jay!
Nice work there Rafi
Thank you Ian.
The other big change was a different tail turret, also with .50-cal weapons. Tamiya's last release of their Lacaster had bother options (along with the Dambuster and Tallboy options, making for a "good buy").
Nice work on this one, Rafi. As usual.
Interesting, Tom. Thank you.
Initially, I wanted to build the Tamiya model, but the price just kept going up...
Yeah, considering they got a full write-down of the molds probably 20 years ago at minimum, they're just price-gouging with that kit now, but it makes the far-better H-K 1/48 Lancaster more "affordable" in comparison.
Of course, but I consider kits as pieces of plastic that facilitate creativity. Therefore, my price limit is inherently low.
Looks awesome, Rafi. Love the color scheme. Very impressed with the black exhaust streams. Something i have not dared airbrush yet.
Thank you Felix!
Looks awesome Rafi (@blackmopane) - fantastic work. Another very well-done build 🙂
Thank you Scott.
Tiger Force Lanc! Don’t see those often. Nice model, Rafi.
Thank you John.
Strange how a not-so-familiar colour scheme can completely change an aircraft. Looks great, and I actually enjoyed the Revell Lanc, it was a pretty nice kit.
Thank you Mike,
I also liked the kit in spite of the shortfalls.
Nicely done Rafi, a different look !
Thank you Allan!
A real beauty, Rafi. Agree with others that the unique scheme is nice to see and you did a great job on it all around.
Thank you Gary.
Great work Rafi - nice to see the far east scheme!
Thank you David!
Like others, I don't know that I've seen that scheme on a Lanc, but I like it a lot! Nicely done - I think she's a beauty!
Thank you Greg!
Nice work on this Lancaster. @blackmopane
Thank you John.
Very good work! Why decals was tore on model?
Tank you Lis!
