Tamiya Ducati Panigale 1199 1/12th
Those of you who got to know me here on iModeler know me as Bike Queen. Well here is the bike that started it all.
I was building a Monogram Capsule and Command Module kit complete with resin aftermarket parts, and everything went wrong nothing fit right and i was completely frustrated.
A friend knew I had the bike kit and suggested I stop the Apollo kit and do the bike. I did as suggested and never looked back.
Not my best motorcycle build as it was early stages of learning how to do a real quality build, but not to bad either. It was finished on September 15, 2021, and I was instantly addicted to Tamiya motorcycle models. Four more Ducatis followed and I was off. I
branched off to Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, Harley and 1 Biomota
Since then I have built 22, 1/12th and 14, 1/6th bikes. One in the works and 6 more on the shelf waiting and 4 more on the way from around the world.
At the time I knew nothing about motorcycles, still dont, I just built them because I loved the intricacies of them. Each one got better and better and more complex ow adding detail parts such as Hobby Design and Top Studio PE, wiring and resin parts.
So without further ado, this is just a brief study of the build that started it all. I am steadily adding them all to my newly formed web site https://bike-queen.org/news

As always thanks for viewing … Cricket aka @bikequeen
Well, that's interesting. The talent was obvious from the beginning.
@tcinla Why thank you Tom! High praise indeed!
Impressive, even your first bike build was already fantastic, Cricket @bikequeen
It is always a pleasure to see you building those bikes.
I'm glad to see that many more bikes are on your bench to work on.
@johnb Thank you John! I have just begun to build LOL 🙂
Looks amazing! Have a few bikes in my stash, might have to break one out!
@butchbryan Hey Butch I highly recommend it 🙂
I am surprised to hear you were not familiar with motorcycles. I just assumed it was a part of your past. Well, the work you are doing definitely shows some familiarity with the subject. And I agree, your work is getting better and better.
@clipper I had 2 in my life a Honda 450 a long long time ago and a Suzuki 500 still a long time ago :). I sold them both before I wrapped them and me around a tree :). That’s it. All I know I learned from kit instructions and “interweb” out of curiosity :). Thansk for the compliments. I think they are hgetting Bette….more complex anyway 🙂
Great looking Ducati, Cricket. A great introduction to the hobby!
My neighbour had a Ducati for a while and I always seen the bike as a Ferrari on two wheels.
And a solid timepiece - Is that a Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chrono?
@georgeswork. Yeah I always loved Ducati! I agree a Ferrari on 2 wheels and yes that is the very Tissot T-race crono :). Good eye 😉
That’s a great build of a great kit, Cricket, there’s no stopping you now.
@chinesegeorge I guess not George :). I’m having fun anyway (Most of the time 🙂 )
The paintwork made me think this was a new build. Sometime we look back and think, “that turned out pretty good.” Thanks for sharing.
@coondog thank you Matt! It’s funny because I didn’t think it was that good compared to the other 23 builds :). But we are our own worst critics 🙂
Gorgeous looking Ducati, Cricket @bikequeen. Really is a Ferrari on two wheels!
@eb801 Than you Eric. Yeah I have always love the looks of a Ducati and the sound 🙂
It was obvious from the start that you were an extremely talented modeler, Bike Queen! Your Ducati looks awesome! Keep them coming!
@fiveten thats the thin Spiros, I never was before this build I had all these great kits but never touched them because I was afraid I would ruin them 🙂
Very beautifully made model , Cricket @bikequeen ! Motorcycles seem very complex to assemble .
@ssgt not to me Jay they are easier than planes because there are smaller surfaces to paint…some are tiny but that works for me 🙂
Indeed, very nice work Cricket. @bikequeen
@jdtruby Thank You John it was the start of my addiction 😉
Obviously a watchmakers eye and steady hand there Cricket, well done.
@firelockg Thanks Ian my training certainly helps! The best thing I learned and stuck with me was how to pick up microscopic parts with tweezers without them flying off into space 😉
Thank you all! I didn’t except such a great review!
Oh, that is beautiful, Cricket @bikequeen! 🤩 There's nothing like a Ducatti in my opinion. I've always wanted one but sadly, it never came to be. 😃
Here's a friend's SS 900, from around 1995 or '96:
And yours truly, astride the same bike:
@garybrantley there is no way I could ever afford one and even if I did it would surely kill me! SWEET bike your buddy has!
