Portuguese Spitfire Mk.I; Tamiya 1/72
This article is part of a series:
Finished over a year ago, a small 1/72 Spitfire in Portuguese colors. Almost a weekend project.
Gunze paints and homemade decals.
A nice, relaxed build for a rainy weekend.
And yes, the code was like that, port and starboard different... 🙂
Fun fact: the Portuguese Spitfires Mk.I were the only ones to have the gray and green paint job. In the UK, this paint job was only applied to later versions.
Hope you like,
M
Unusual subject- looks very nice
thank you 😀
You don't see Portugese Spitfires built that often and especially not in this quality, Manuel @magrus
Excellent work done in this tiny scale.
Thks @johnb ! meanwhile I edited the article and included a link to a serie of portuguese aircrafts flown by the same pilot of this Spitfire, You'll find a portuguese Hurricane there 😀
@magrus
Very nice work on a tiny size Spitfire Manuel!
Back when Tamiya released their first Mk.I Spitfire in 1/48 (97 or so) I made this same aircraft, using one of the first Portuguese decal maker “Esquadrão 33” if memory serves good. I still have some insignia decals from them in the stash.
Thks Pedro @holzhamer !
Yes it's tiny... I've bought the 'new' 1:48 Tamiya Mk.Ia to build with our colors. Will see about the decals one of these days
Beautifully done - the paintwork is fantastic.
thks Greg @gkittinger, much appreciated 🙂
Dear Manuel @magrus, i really like the paintjob with the weathering and the subtle changes in the grey hue. This is a very nice display of how even a small 1/72 Spit can look great!
Thank you for your kind words @fxrob, much appreciated 👍
Excellent job and superb result, Manuel! Love the Portuguese scheme!
thks @fiveten !
