1/72 Airfix Beaufighter
This kit was the subject of the inaugural 2016 Airfix Cup, a category in the 2016 NSW Model Show hosted and run by Illawarra Plastic Modellers Association. The kit was to OOB with decals being the only option to change. I built mine in flight and reminded me of my childhood and countless Matchbox models that hung from my bedroom ceiling. It is a great little kit and plan to build a few more.
Happy Modelling
Darren
Hi Darren. I particularly like the banner photo, it really captures something of the energy of flight. It's a terrific build that's painted and finished to a very, very high standard.
Dogfights hanging from the ceiling; happy days.
Great Beaufighter, Darren! Really well painted and weathered. It's a real icon of WWII planes.
Bravo!
Well done Darren, and on an Airfix stand too! Did it come with the kit as well?
Hi Tom
I made the stand from a aircraft Tamiya stand and wooden base. The Airfix logo was cut out from a box.
Now that's a nice piece of modeling right there, sir...excellent work!
Nice Beaufighter.
Darren, this is a gorgeous build. Really striking. Well done!
Darren, you sure have a knack of applying a nice finish. I have to admit I prefer airplane models to be on there wheels, but good modeling is good modeling and this looks wonderful. Well done !
Nice work on this. It's a great kit - as much detail as I would expect in 1/48.
Hello Darren,
Excellent presentation.
Regards, Dirk
She's a beaut! Great finish on it, and love the stand.
I remember building the original Airfix 1/72 kit, a long, long time ago, I'm sure it didn't look anywhere as good as this, really neat work.
Fantastic work! It's a great kit and I'll have to finish some other projects first before I can start mine. Very well done!
