1/32 Trumpeter P-47N Thunderbolt “Chautauqua”
This is my 1/32 Trumpeter P-47N Thunderbolt with the markings of “Chautauqua”
flown by Lt. Victor Schmidt from 463td FS 507th FG (20th AF) Ie Shima, April 1945.
Trumpeter kit has an accurate overall shape but some serious inaccurate and weak areas are existing.
Main problems of the kit are inaccurate cockpit floor, canopy, wheels and terrible windscreen.
The modifications of this project are:
- Eduard cockpit set
- Eduard wheel well set
- Rutman's accurate “N”wheels (Thanks to Mr Rick Griewski)
- Windscreeen and canopy swapped with Hasegawa spare parts.
Painting done with Alclad metalizers.
Decals are a mix of Kits world and Cam decals sets.
Happy modelling
Stunning build as always, sir.
I've done the same aircraft in 1/48 , yours is better...
Great work Tolga.
Nice, nice, nice!
Kick Butt Solid Build! Really nice work especially fixing the problems. Really like the seat-belts, so realistic.
Excellent. Impressed with the finish on the yellow areas, I always have a difficult time pulling that off successfully. And those seatbelts look real! Well done.
Great work Tolga, though I hope one day we get a new tool P-47N in both 1/48 and 1/32 scale...
PS - From Tamiya!
Thanks Darren
I also have been waited for years for a super P-47n release. But any action.
So finally I had to built this . As a Murphy rule maybe few weeks later Tamiya release a 1/32 N. God knows.
Impressive model, excellent support for a dainty nose art!
Good looking Jug Tolga. The nose art is pretty nice as well.
Thanks for your comments.
Another standard-issue Tolga Stunner. I had thought of that canopy fix on mine but doubted my ability to do what you did, so settled for suffering the Trumpy canopy (which has the same problem both the old Monogram P-47 bubbletop and the Academy P-47N has, so you know where Trumpy went for their research). Just a super result!
Thanks Tom
Aha I can see now the reason of the terrible windscreen
They look like black and white together.

Another real beauty Tolga! Great scheme, and nice work on the fixes.
Thanks
Finally, a Trumpeter T-bolt with brakes... I've seen so many of these kits built up with out the brake housings. At last someone puts a stop to this glaring error. Given the manufacture I am not surprised. Using other kits as source material for creating new products is not uncommon with kit manufactures. Whats disappointing is the opportunities that are lost given the scale and cost of the kit one would like to see some of the basic's covered on the kit. Such as brakes...
Two thumbs up Mr. T
Thanks
Excellent Jug! Great attention to the details.
Awesome piece of work!
