Well, it has finally begun. I started painting this beast. The Germans built less than 40 of these things so there's not a whole lot of variation in colors. Several were captured at the end of the war and taken to the U.S., Britain and I think France for evaluation. They basically sprayed over the Nazi emblems and replaced them with their own. This one will represent the one captured by the Americans so it will have the Star and Bars applied to the fuselage. I painted it on top with Mission Models RLM 82 over AK interaktive Dark Aluminum. Having sprayed light coats of hairspray along strategic areas for subsequent chipping. I then varied the tones and sprayed random patters over the entire plane mixing Chromate Yellow, Chromate Green, White and RLM 02 . That was follwed by darkened RLM 82 along panel lines and random spots. A similar process was followed for the underside where I used Mission Models Helblau with tonal variations. Next, will come the darker camo color on top. This will be Braunviolet. I experimented first with a Su-27 wing from a cheap knock-off kit that I use for this purpose.
Like I said before...this is gonna be a show-stopper. Really nice build ya got goin' on.
Thanks, Craig. I'm really hoping to get this thing done soon I've been working on it for months now.
Looking fantastic - as usual!
I did not know that, Johannes. That's pretty cool. I am flattered to be in the same league as Mr. Wachop.
Wow. Just wow...
This is going to be another show stopper George ! Beautiful workmanship and attention to details. Thanks for another update, and I'll be looking forward to the next one. You have definitely made some wonderful progress.
