Monogram AT-6 Texan [FAD]
Fuerza Aerea Dominicana, Escuadrón Caza Ramfis, circa 1958
For this kit, I rescribed and riveted the whole fuselage, painted metallic paint with Vallejo acrylic metal color aluminum, the yellow wings mission models highway yellow, and Vallejo red. An old, simple kit with lots of room for improvements. The decals were custom made and printed on a laser printer at my local print shop.
Wow, Rene! That’s really nice. You put a lot of work into this. Very well done. I’ve got one of those kits on the go right now in the guise of an SNJ-5c.

The yellow came on very uniform, not easy to achieve with this color.
What surprises me on the real close-up picture is that the plane seems to be on the ground but the landing gear is retracted.

I know, right? I don't know what was happening at that moment, the picture makes no sense, but at least is a great reference, that's all I can say about it.
Beautiful build, Rene! The answer to the puzzle is over at the left of the photo where you can see a permanent concrete encased jack stand. The aircraft is actually up on jacks and is being used as a "Captivair" trainer, which allowed for all systems to be operated by the student including, obviously, the landing gear, often as an instructor stood on the wing or platform next to the cockpit. This was a fairly common set-up at USAF flying training bases in the '40s and early '50s.

As someone who's been flying around in T-6s for 50 years, the one thing you do not need to do with the Monogram T-6 - in fact, this is its strongest plus - is re-scribe and re-rivet the model. The raised rivets on the kit are very accurate reproductions of the real thing, and the raised panel detail does a good job of portraying the lapped panels. These are all the reasons why this is the most accurate kit of the T-6 available in any scale.
Right on, Tom. LOTS of rivets on the Texan, and SBDs are the same way.
That said, it's a gorgeous model!

gives this model a whole new image ... and a interesting historical aspect.
