Junkers Ju 87 A2

November 19, 2023 · in Aviation · · 17 · 361

This is the 1/48th scale offering from .

The kit is definitely not for beginners, having many fit issues especially when joining the wing to fuselage, which required copious amounts of filler to correct but nothing that couldn't be overcome with a little persistence. The original canopy had gone seriously yellow and required replacing. This involved a friend of a friend over in the USA making a new master and vacforming a new one, for which I am eternally grateful!

I finished it as a aircraft with the early 61/62/63/65 splinter. The decals were generally ok but a couple had gone brittle with age and were a bit of jigsaw puzzle to reconstruct. Minimal weathering was applied as I doubt the aircraft would have acquired much wear and tear in service. I will at some stage do a proper base and add some ground crew figures "bombing up" the aircraft with an SC 250.

Despite the problems, I found it an enjoyable kit of an early which, as far as I am aware, has not been kitted in 48th by any other manufacturer.

  7. Yeah, this one's it in 1/48 for the early Stuka. Having done this monster myself once, I can say you have definitely produced a triumph of skill, talent and tenacity over plastic. A war you won superbly with this excellent result.

  8. Nice work! Thatโ€™s the only option in 1/48 but Trumpeter has done it in both 1/32 and 1/24โ€ฆโ€ฆ..
