B-29 1/48 scale full metal skin
Well after 275 hours of building this B-29 is complete, minus the livery which arrives soon.
Each individual panel is painstakingly done in aluminum.
This is my fourth all metal skin build, and by far my most ambitious! If I never see aluminum again I'll be happy.
Kit is the old monogram kit, built on commission for a private client. Metallic details resin engines replace the original ones from 1974.
I hope you enjoy my madness!
This is really phenomenal work, Rick! The result is outstanding!
Thanks so much Spiros! Not something I recommend doing if you want to retain your sanity lol.
Very impressive, Rick @rickschad
All the amount of work with the aluminum was definitely worth it.
I fully understand that you prefer to not see aluminum again.
Well done.
lol! Thank you so much!
Looks pretty damn good without any markings. But it is commission work. Nice work!
It is getting markings, I designed custom decals for her, they just havenโt arrived yet. Thank you!
Amazing work Rick. You have convinced me to stick with Vallejo metal paint. ๐
lol! Yes, thank you!
That looks damn good. To undergo such masochism. But the result is worth it. Congratulations.
Thanks so much!
Looks amazing. Excellent work. I started to foil the Williams Brothers 1/72 scale Gama and stopped because of getting frustrated with the compound curves of the wing filets. This makes me want to get back to it.
It is a challenge thatโs for sure. Thank you!
@rickschad WOW! What aluminum did you use! Or was it paint? Thats a superb job!
I use 3m HVAC aluminum
That looks like a lot of work, very impressive.
275 hours worth lol! Thank you!
Incredible, the finished model must be pretty heavy.
Right at 2 pounds. Thanks so much!
NICELY INCREDIBLE! Well done, Rick.
Rest for a couple of weeks and get out the 1/48 B-36...!
Hahahaha! Iโm already on a 1/16 scale T-34 tank lol. No metal lol
Most impressive, Rick @rickschad! ๐คฉ That model is a true testament to patience and perseverance, amazing result, sir! ๐
Thanks so much Gary!
Excellent result, amazing and unbelievable.
Thank you so very much!
Wow - pretty amazing! I'm with Tom C - give me a way to airbrush on the metal!
Canโt beat the look of real aluminum ๐ thank you!
Man, this was insane! Fantastic job!
Fan-freakin'-tastic work on this all around. I built one last year and can't remember how many times it almost became landfill
lol! I feel your pain my friend.
๐ ... Greetings ... ๐ :
Outstanding work Rick, proof of good handling and patience.
Thank you so very much!
An amazing piece of craftsmanship! It must have really tried your patience (@rickschad).
It sure did! But Iโm happy itโs behind me ๐ Thank you!
This is utterly incredible. I admire your devotion to the art!
Thank you so very much!
Wow I would be scared to tackle such a large build. You nailed it! I bet this takes up some serious shelf real estate.
40โ wingspan! Thank the lord I donโt have to make space for it! Thank you!
Exceptional work. This is why I never keep track of time spent on a build ๐. Seriously, though, this is a show stopper.
I really appreciate it, it was a lot of work but worth every minute ๐
