iModeler Awards – July

August 11, 2015 · in Uncategorized · · 15 · 2K

July used to be a slow month in modeling. In sheer numbers, this is noticeable - 66 articles were added to the headlines during the month. Luckily, they prompted no fewer than 1301 comments and we certainly didn't experience any lack of great modeling on display!

Every month, all Headline contributions are included in our traditional honorary prize draw. We're awarding the Best in Show title to the entry that in the eyes of the jury represents the month's highlight in terms of modeling quality and presentation. In additional to this, we allot another award to a randomly chosen article to emphasize that all contributions to this site deserve recognition.
Please don't hesitate to join iModeler to take part in our next monthly roundup.

iModeler Best in Show - July 2015

The jury's vote goes to 1/32 Scale Trumpeter English Electric Lightning F.Mk1 by Eric Galliers aka @ericg. Eric has captured the character of this Cold War-era jet perfectly and went a long way towards improving the original kit. The craftsmanship and the skills really shine, making the resulting model a joy to watch.

But wait, there is more...

As said before, we are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is IAN JACKSON @ij001 with A Catalina for my Dad. Thanks for sharing all the personal modeling stories at iModeler, they make our hobby so much more interesting.

  1. I had a friend who corrected that Trumpeter kit, so I know pretty much exactly what the tortures of the damned were to accomplish what you did. And in the end it looks excellent!

  2. Excellent choices, one and all...thumbs up to each and every modeler.

  3. Well deserved, Eric. Superb craftsmanship.

  4. Eric's model is "A silk Purse from a Sow's ear." ...what should be a crash and burn kit has been made into a first class model. Although it took a lot of modifications to get up to snuff. Good call on the judges part. Then there's the competition all of whom have raised the bar and have made things difficult for us mere mortals. Some really strong work in the month of July.

  5. It's good stuff, all round. Congrats Eric !
