Beaufighter TF.X by Tamiya in 1/48 scale
Needing something simpler after my last build I opted for Tamiya's Beaufighter TF.X & discovered a wealth of detail on the web for Coastal Command squadrons based at RAF Dallachy in Scotland.
I was lucky to find Aviaeology decals for these aircraft; simply superb, with 12 pages of detail which I had not seen before. There are in fact, enough markings on these sheets to do up to 16 different aircraft from Dallachy, Including 144 (RAF) 489 (RNZAF) & 455 (RAAF) squadrons. .My choice was 455 Squadron RAAF. Building this was total enjoyment, as befitted my final effort for the year I hope you like it...And best wishes for the festive season & a happy new year to all.

Excellent kit (I bought one on impulse from Hannants a couple of months back because it was discounted).

Thanks Neil. This is my third Tamiya Beaufighter. There's something about the Coastal Command aircraft. I still could do another with a torpedo!

The Beaufighter has always been a favourite of mine since getting the Airfix 1/72 model when I was a kid. This one looks great, and must be quite a substantial model in 1/48.
My IPMS - NSW group did a group build using the new Airfix 1/72 kit. No comparison. There was even a small diorama with a Beau dropping a torpedo!

Nice work, Tony. I built that kit as UB-E several years ago using Southern Sky decals from Australia. It's a great subject and you did it justice!
